CO Barrel Aged Stouts

I opened a batch 1 Snowed In at Zwanze last year and it was really good. The spirits notes had decreased, but I think it was for the better. Most everyone seemed to really like it a lot.

 

The norm is that you pay sales tax on top of the price. There are numerous items for retail sale that do not have sales tax added on, groceries would be a common example of that.

On the manufacturer level, the government levies excise taxes. Small breweries pay ~$0.23/gallon to the feds and $0.08/gallon to Colorado.

Beer is not exempt from sales tax. You go to a brewery and the menu says $6 for XYZ beer and pay $6, actual price is $5.XX + sales tax = $6. You can go to another place and the menu says $6 for XYZ beer and it ends up being $6 + sales tax. There are no standards to include it in the price or add sales tax on at the conclusion of the transaction.

I have been trying to call great divide tap room several times, and have never gotten them to answer the phone. Is there a problem with their phone system with the new location?

Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but when does Liquid Brain usually come out?

 

I dont think there's a usual release date as there have only been 2 batches bottled, but last years batch came out on Black Friday at Grapevine and then again at the B&B Xmas beer tasting...

 

The first Brain came out in February of 2014, but had been sitting in bottles for something like 5-6 months prior to it going on sale. It was essentially a 2013 Brain. The 2014 version came out right about this time last year. I think this one is still up in the air, but there definitely will be one.

 

I thought last years came out around now. I think I'm gonna open my last bottle this weekend. Need me some of that bourbon marshmallow deliciousness.

I am really interested in getting a couple bottles of "Snowed In" from Copper Kettle. I have tried calling them but usually they don't answer the phone and say "leave a message and we'll call you back". I called them but they called me back when I was at the gym, so I guess I would have to play some phone tag. Anyway, they are releasing this on Black Friday, but I was hoping someone would know how much they are producing and if this is likely to hit distribution in Colorado. I can find Mexican Chocolate Stout almost everywhere around here, I am just wondering how limited this may be. And if it's being released on Black Friday, it probably won't hit stores until 2-3 weeks afterward, I am guessing.

On a somewhat different note, my friends went to GDBC new barrel room, tried BBA Yeti on tap, and gave it 5/5 and 4.5/5, respectively. These are people who don't give out many 5s. They wouldn't sell any BBA Yeti bottles, they said they didn't have any available and they would be released "next week".

 

BA Yeti is out on store shelves now FYI.

 

Snowed In sat on shelves for months last year. Shouldn't be hard to find...

 

I know CBC1 was with Mile High and Grapevine... I believe they added another store or two for CBC2.

CBC2 is no longer at Mile High, but they do have CBC3 on the shelves.

 

I still have one from last year as well. Report back if you open one!

Yep. I picked up a bottle at the Arapahoe location yesterday. They didn't have any out front, but when I asked they told me they had "plenty" of bottles in the back. Get your wallet out, though, because the bottles (750s) are 30 bucks.
