I thought the Rum Fidy was outstanding, the best of the bunch this year. Then again, my favorite Avery stout is Black Eye, so my bias is evident.

The Rum DBC, well, it didn't do anything for me. Just a mess. I like DBC and rum barrels, but together, not so much. Picked up a few cans for friends, but walked out with just Fidy for myself.

Excellent release, although the weather helped keep the masses away. There were still a few tickets at noon.

And the millennial behind me did say "So I have to wait because I'm 81?".
But anyhow, It's actually Cedar Ridge, not Creek, just wanted to get the name right.
The take a ticket method may be the way to go in the future. I've seen too many "show up 30 seconds before the doors open then jump in the front of the line" people to just admit that beer etiquette is a thing of the long past, like 2 years ago past.
At least OB was quick to adjust to the weather forecast. Learning from ones mistakes is all that can be reasonably expected.
Plus the coffee and burritos beforehand were good too

Picked up some of each of the Rum DBC/TF. Had a non-BA DBC first, then went to the Rum DBC. The coconut on the regular DBC washed my pallette, so I was only able to taste rum in the BA DBC. Had to wait a little bit before getting any of the coconut notes in the BA version. Wasn't the biggest fan, but still not bad.

Will be trying the Rum BATF tomorrow.
    Regards

Popped open a double barrel baptist last night, glad I found a bottle shop with a stash of these. Liquid bourbon brownie in a bottle. I don't get much coffee, but it doesn't need it. Possibly one of the best stouts I have had all year. I would take it over coffee kds (freemont) all day.

Opened a Legend of the Liquid Brain last night. Holy shit is that a fantastic beer from Bull & Bush. Glad I have a few more bottles to hold to see how it develops over time. This beer has massive body and an incredibly rich chocolate bourbon cake flavor. The barrels they used impart a complex mix of vanilla, caramel and a slight oakiness. A little heat on the finish, but the flavors and the body are so perfect for a BA imperial stout. Definitely one of my favorites from CO in the category, surprised there isn't more talk about LotLB in here!?!

I think people didn't talk about it because they wanted more for themselves.

I didn't try Rum BATF on Saturday but the people I talked to a bit underwhelmed with it. Not that it's a bad beer, but that reg. BATF is a better balance of flavors.

Release could have been handled better, took a really long time for them to get through the line. Took about 1 hour 15 minutes to be called up and then 45 minutes waiting in the taproom to be called back to buy the cans. I'm sure they will continue to improve the process. OB people were cool though and really appreciate being able to chill inside, and they also handed out some free beers around 1PM to people who were still waiting.

I did see some bad behavior by attendees including people hording the free beer, people cutting wristbands to get a 2nd band, etc. But that happens. Also some people took advantage of the freedom to roam around OB back room by poking around and opening boxes and generally touching a lot of stuff.

The Brain is still readily available at the B&B and it probably will be for at least a little while.
While not a stout, I think CBC4 is on par with the B&B's best barrel-aged beers, Brain included.

    Cheers!

Taproom-only release from Saturday; been all over BA for a couple weeks. Internet must be scarce in GJ as well lol

Just giving you a hard time BTW

I waited 3 hours for some Rum Barrel Ten Fidy and DBC. It was good but not worth the wait. I did a blind taste test of 2015 W00t Stout vs Rum Barrel Ten Fidy and everyone preferred the w00t stout. Great beer, but releases like this rarely live up to the hype.

I had a 2016 w00t Impy, pretty freakn' good. I would still pick up the RBTF, and RBDBC if I saw them around here.

    Cheers!

Shared a bottle of LotLB (batch 3) with @StrongRepublican and @vitaminvert last night. I may have been a little palate blasted by that point but we really enjoyed it. The barrel character was very strong, but in a good way. It tasted very smooth, the flavor wasn't very strong in any one direction (roast / chocolate / vanilla) but really enjoyed it overall. Would love to try this side-by-side with Ctayt, BATF, and BA Yeti to "crown" the champion.

Looks like LotLB is getting a wider distribution this time. I just saw several stores advertise they have it in the past couple of days

I'm not red fan generally, but this one was right up my alley. I've only grabbed one so far, that will need to change.
