Got off work early, found a shelf full of baptista @ lukas liquors. Must be my lucky day.

Didn't happen to see any Double Barrell lurking around, did you? That beer made me want to take an early withdrawal penalty on my 401k just to get more...

Shit no. I saw the baptista and immediately started digging for double barrel. No luck.

Had a necktie at grandma's house the other day. I wasn't expecting much but it was an awesome and well balanced stout. Highly recommend I like the place but never really thought much of the beer. I only had one but it looks like they are brewing more in house now...

Hogshead has a rye barrel aged extra stout on cask right now that is fantastic.

Since I know most of you are sitting watching the game right now wondering, "I wonder how '14 Tweak is doing?". The answer is, "Grrrrreat!". It's actually pretty reminiscent of BCBS Coffee of a couple of years ago. The barrel is there, but subdued, the coffee has taken on a sweet flavor and there is a bit of soy sauce going on, though not as strong as some BCBS releases. Frankly, according to memory anyway, I personally preferred all the Tweaks fresh, including this one. But that doesn't mean it isn't still delicious.

Finishing a bad ten fiduciary.... testing pretty good right now with some of the barrel notes/heat subsiding since November... in case anyone is curious.

    Thanks for the update.

Transparency is key in all fiduciary relationships. Bad Ten testing sounds like a great plan.

Finally had baptista last night. It may be the best of the style I have ever had. Brownies, marshmallow coming from the base, all the spices are there, look out abraxas.

Hahaha whoops... typing on post on my phone never works out well.

To clarify I had a BA ten fidy (not a bad ten fiduciary), and it was tasting pretty good with the barrel/booze notes toned back from what they initially were in November.

Really enjoyed the subtlety of this one, whereas my experiences with other spiced stouts like Abraxas and DB Hunapu were really disappointing because the spice seemed to take over and actually build to almost intolerable levels- particularly the latter.

Baptista really balanced the flavors to my liking when others of the style haven't been that good to me.

My issues with the style are either:
    A. There's a bunch of promises made on the label that go unfulfilled in the beer. Prairie bomb is the main offender for me. I can't taste half the crap they say is in there.
    or...
    B. One ingredient takes over the whole beer and ruins the rest of the experience. Xocoveza is just cinnamon to me. No stout, no chocolate, just cinnamon. It's horrible.
Baptista walks that fine line. Everything on the label is there, none of it is overwhelming. I always thought people were full of shit when they would review a beer and talk about tasting things like marshmallow from the barrel. This beer proved me wrong. So good.

Making a trip for some skiing and stopping by Avery. Any good bottles they have now I should get? Or is there someplace else I should hit up?

    I personally hate pumpkin beers.

You should absolutely go no matter what. The above mentioned bottles are as good of a selection as you can get. They do some tap-room only releases now and then, so keep you eye on their FB page.
