If it's like Upslope's other BA offerings in the stovepipes, it'll see pretty wide distro. Sounds interesting.

Thought I spotted it yesterday in Fort Collins... $12 seemed a little steep without having heard anything about its quality

Hmm $12/19.6oz BA stout is a pretty decent price point comparatively

Kind of interesting that is is 10.6% (or whatever it is) when their barleywine releases were above 14%. Not sure it will make a difference on quality though. And yeah, it hit Fort Collins this week.

Are we sure about the size?
looked like a pounder to me, but I really wasn't paying that close of attention...

19.2oz per the pics on Facebook. I work right next to the Flatiron Park location, but they sadly won't have cans until tomorrow. Definitely want to grab this one, though!

$10/ea at release and then $13 the next day directly from Upslope

I've yet to like an Upslope beer. Just tried their Peanut Butter Porter. I've been done with them for a while, but I tried the PB just to see. It sucked.

Huh. I generally like most everything I've had from them. Everything except their Belgian Pale and IPA, which are styles I strongly dislike in general.
    Different strokes I suppose!

Had the 10 month batch at the anniversary party and it was fucking outstanding. It's at 12 months now and they're saying it's fantastic. Can't wait to try it tomorrow.

Having it now and it's fantastic, of course. Different from the other batch though. The 10 month was a chocolate fudge overload to me. This one is more oak/ whiskey forward. A blend of the two would be perfect.

That chocolate fudge flavor tracks exactly with my own eperience as well. From your description, 12mo sounds fantastic! Bottle that stuff already!

Any verdicts on the BA Upslope coffee stout yet? I normally like hanging on to their stuff for a bit, but this weather might be too perfect to not crack one open this evening...

Halfway through the can. Can't taste much of the barrel in and of itself, but I do believe this may be one of the best coffee stouts I've had. I think that--while I can't taste the barrel directly--it's given more life and body to the coffee. Most coffee beers I've had exhibit a bit of a burnt folgers quality. In this case, though, I actually "taste" the coffee, not just the bitter aftertaste of burnt coffee. Obviously different palettes will vary, but this one delivers in my book. Curious to hear others' take on it.

I do believe it was only barrel aged for four months, which probably leads to less barrel flavor.

If that's the case, why even bother? So they can charge more?

Not everyone likes a huge barrel presence... I am sure Upslope canned it when they felt it was ready and met their expectations. That's about the same amount of time Dragon's Milk is aged as well. I think everyone judges against the typical BCBS standard of ~1yr in barrels, but there are plenty of beers that go for much shorter (or longer) stretches with plenty of success.
