I remember them advertising bottles for their anniversary a little bit back. They were limiting the bottles 1pp? maybe. Not sure if they are the same beers. They were calling the Laws and Rum aged ones "Creme Brulee" while they were aging, it's possible they had to avoid any repercussions from Southern Tier when they bottled.

If those are the Creme Brulees renamed, the base beer was pretty good. There was nothing creme brulee-ie about it though. Not much in caramel, nevermind a burnt caramel flavor I associate with the dessert it's named after. But tasty and probably would taste pretty great aged in whiskey (especially Laws) and rum barrels.

I tend to avoid paying that much really for most any 22oz. I made an exception for the BT MCS because I really like Copper Kettle and they've treated us real well since we moved here, so I'm willing to spend a bit extra to support them. But unfortunately I can't do that for everyone.

I still might somehow convince myself to pick those 2 up. There is some real good potential there.

I actually really liked the first batch of the Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout. So I was pretty jazzed when they did a BA version. But I thought the BA version was fairly bland. I drank mine right away so no infection that I could tell. It was just very blah to begin with. Maybe it would have been better on tap. I boycott Wynkoop cans now anyhow. Every beer I've bought in a can (excepting RMOS) has been flat and watery and not nearly as good as on tap.

I got a 4-pack of the oak-aged Artillery brown ale, and holy shit, that was a nasty fucking beer. I don't know what it was supposed to taste like, but to me it had the same taste you get when you blow up a cheap balloon that you bought at a gas station.

Mile High has the buffalo trace Mexican chocolate stout from copper kettle today. Believe they are the only one that got any.

I grabbed one of these today. It sounds fantastic!!

Is this a common past problem or a one time incident?

I've never had it happen, but I've always kept them refrigerated and drank them quick. However a friend brought a case home to Las Vegas and stored some in a closet and some in a fridge. When he opened them finally a few moths later about 50% of them volcanoed to the ceiling (not sure if being refrigerated made a difference). I spoke with others who had the bottles flatout explode, those were kept in a closet.

This was last year sometime, so I have no idea if it's still happening.

Fucking A, I have gotten 3-4 bombers of regular MCS over the last year or so, and never liked it because it has always had way too much cinnamon in it for me. But, the BA version is amazing. There is a ton of cinnamon in the nose (which I don't like), but I get a lot of coconut flavor when drinking this beer. It should be an instant whale. I swear, it's like a sperm whale blew another sperm whale, then whacked off into a barrel. A year later, the whale jizz was bottled, and we have Mile High MCS. You should totally be able to trade 3-4 bottles of this for some IPA brewed in Massachusetts. It is almost that good.

I thought it was because it was a special collab w/ MHW&S? Mile High (and others) have done this before, giving a barrel to a brewery and brewing a one-off beer for them. (Funkwerks Solstice, CS Zeke's Belly Up, B&B CBC #1,2,3, etc)

That is correct on copper kettle on getting the barrel from mile high. That's why they were the only store to receive a few cases.

Has anyone tried the BA Mexican Chocolate Stout yet? I'm really curious to hear how it is!

Man those Buffalo Trace Zekes from GCB were great. Weren't they like $10 a bomber also? Beer was so much simpler then...

Just drank a Montanya by Elevation, pretty damn good. Not a lot of barrel or spice, just right imo to let the base shine like FW does it. I'm jealous of anyone who gets to live near Salida but even more of anyone who gets to brew beer to do it.

We don't have waelz in CO. I'm not sure if we're even allowed to talk about them here. I'm probably not even allowed in Chicago now that I wrote that.

Not at any of the well traveled stores. Some hidden gem stores might still have some. I was looking for some a few weeks ago and had no luck. It hit stores back in March/April.

Mockery released a barrel aged imperial coffee stout. I've had the base beer before I believe. Thought it was pretty good. Anyone know what barrels they aged it in?
