If anybody is still hanging onto any bottles of Thanatoid (Our Mutual Friend), be prepared for a drainpour. I wasn't a huge fan of it when it came out, but got a bottle to see if it might evolve into something, and I spent the time to go to the release party. Last night before the Avengers movie (with Thanos as the villian) seemed like the right time to bust it out finally. Well, it "evolved" into an infected mess of cherry soy sauce. C'est la vie.

If y'all haven't had it, I think River North still has Single Cask Sandman available. Port-finished whiskey casks. Like chocolate-covered grapes. Loved it.

Picked up another Bull Proof on Sunday. My palate may be a little off from a cold, but I got significantly less bbl. from this bottle compared to the first one I drank. It was still tasting great, don't get me wrong, but when I had the first one I was thinking it was one of the most balanced BA stouts I've had in terms of bbl. characteristics. Obviously this is very subjective, I tend to enjoy the heavier handed BA stouts more than most, so having very subtle bbl. is a bit of a put off. Will revisit in another month or 2...

Dry Dock .BA Imperial Stout is out. I hear so little about it, but every year I love it.
Not starting off as boozy as previous years, but it's solid

It's time for my annual (err...bi-annual...thanks kids) trip to visit family in Denver in a week. Which means I'll be creeping on your Mountain forum a bit like always. We'll be spending a few days up in the Frisco area too. I'm sure it'll be hot as balls when I'm there, but any BA goodies I should be on the lookout for? Regardless, I look forward to drinking my way (semi-responsibly) through your lovely state as always. Thanks all!

Odell has some 12 oz ba beers. The red ale is cheap and good. The shout is also worth trying.

Yeah, we started seeing distro of Odell over a year ago. I've had Mountain Standard and Bull Proof. Both solid. I've passed on a few others like the red so far. We also see BA Ten Fidy and most Avery gold and green foil. Plank'd just showed up here. Although one of the last times I was out there I found Callipygian. So that was pretty sweet. Oh yeah, and we get Epic now.

Is there any small chance I find any BA stuff from River North, Station 26, Fiction, Drydock? These are the places our livers seem to pay the bulk of the troll toll on.

River North and Dry Dock absolutely, they've both got BA stuff all over shelves. Station 26 definitely not since they only do Dark Star as an annual release and Barleywayne was a one-off for bottles (so far).

    Totality dropped on Saturday...
Really think it turned out well (albeit a little thin on the body) and has literally all the goodness you’d expect from a rye ba stout.

    Well done, bois!

Some of the River North BA stuff can be hard to find. It appears in limited quantities and sometimes sells out. High-traffic stores like Davidsons will probably be sold out. Dry Dock should be doable. I've never see S26 BA stuff for sale in a store.

From? Only Totality I know of is the base for Eclipse from FiftyFifty. Probably helpful to pimp the brewery because I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering lol

Sorry- everyone around here is so 'in the know' with abbreviations and whatnot so... lol

    Snowbank in Fort Collins!!!!
They make lots of great stuff, but I hadn't ever had anything BA'd from them until now.

Lol at FiftyFifty. Did the $35 Eclipses that turded up the shelves five years ago finally get shipped to the recycler? Fuck, that bullshit was overpriced.

I frequently see these sitting at IL craft beer shops all the time. Usually $28.99ish. I almost pulled the trigger on an apple brandy one that was $22.99 a few weeks ago. Then said F that.

Recently ran across Diebolt Valdislav 'baby don't hurt me' BA stout and highly recommend picking up a bomber if you run into it pretty cheap at $10-12 bottle. Also Avery plank'd out is worth a try smooth and tame for a 16.2% BA coconut porter.

Avery Raspberry Truffale is out (at least at the brewery). One F'n tasty brew. The "normal"$12 a bottle; I had to get a sixer....

As an FYI: Tasty Weasel still had Mocha BA Ten FIDY in the cooler as of this past Sunday.
I had just assumed it would have been long gone on release day like the other recent releases, so I never bothered to look for it.
I haven't opened one yet to see how it is. At one point this wouldn't even be a question, but the last couple BA TenFIDY variants have been pretty lackluster. I've preferred the regular BA TenFIDY over the "special" releases. Mocha is $15 for the stovepipe, a bump in price from the usual $12.50

I finally got my hands on some at Avery, my usual local shops still haven't got it. Also got my '18 Rumpkin. I'll be diving into both this weekend, which makes the week take soooo long to arrive.

Are you saying I shouldn't show up at the next release at 5 AM with a van and $10K?

Unfortunately I'm ranking Mocha as, meh. Not much mocha, and the BA TenFIDY is barely there.
What the heck happened to their barrel program? It used to be outstanding, but ever since they started canning it's been mediocre at best
