Looking at the news and seeing how out of control the fires are getting. Here's hoping everyone is safe.
Someone started a trade thread where he was offering beer in exchange for donations to charity to help the fire victims, really classy move
The Boulder fire looks to be getting under control. Yesterday evening was scary, juuuuust over the ridge from thousands of houses. Little smoke in town today! Prayers go out to everyone in Colorado Springs.
Had to evacuate our home last night, staying in a friends basement on the other side of town. I don't think our home is in danger but winds have been terrible, this was my view on the drive home yesterday afternoon. this is another pic that shows the scale of the fires: http://twitpic.com/a0x6a9
The fire is very very close to Trinity. Maybe a mile away, or less, from where the fires got last night. They shut down access to the road (Garden of the Gods) Trinity is on last night so they had to close. Not sure if they reopened that road today, but doubt it. Pikes Peak in Monument closed early today due to pre-evacuation concerns there, but they are several miles north right now of the fire. Everyone else in the Springs is good. Bristol is donating a buck from every beer sold at their tasting room Saturday to the Waldo Canyon Firefighters Fund.
I'm about a mile or two away from the pre-evacuation area in Boulder, hoping everyone and their homes stay safe.
I work in the Springs, across from the air force base. Our office is still "open," but I can't seem to justify driving into work, towards a raging fire.
Hope everyone is ok and there homes and family!!! I've drove past a fireworks stand about 10 times the past few days and i have yet to see someone buying fireworks, I love to see this. Stay safe everyone and lets keep Colorado safe.
Thanks, things seem to have calmed down today. 35% humidity, cooler temps, less wind have all contributed to increase containment. On the drive in this morning I only saw one column of smoke and it is a fair bit away from the city as opposed to the last two days where it has looked like the whole west side of the city was on fire.
