I recently kegged an ipa into my corny keg. I'm having issues getting the pressure right for force carbonation. I have two regulators and have an stout that is set at 8 psi on the first regulator. When i try to change the pressure on the second regulator i can't get the pressure below 30psi. I wanted to force carb at 20psi for 4-5 days then lower to 8 or so. Problem is i can't the pressure to lower. I don't want to over carb it. The screw that adjust the pressure is as low as it can go. How to i get the pressure gauge to start at 0 and adjust up or down from there?

You are turning the screw counter-clockwise, right?

If so, and the PSI on the gauge won't go below 30, you either have a bad regulator or a bad gauge.

There is 30 PSI in the system. You have changed the demand set point, but no change has been made down stream from the regulator. Pull the keg PRV, or the PRV on the regulator of not connected to a keg. The pressure will go down, the turn the regulator back up to the desired set point.

    PRV is Pressure Relief Valve.

. . . edited to reflex what @hopfenunmaltz says . . . this is just like filling your tires at an air station. If you overpressurize a tire, setting lower pressure does nothing. You must bleed tire to below desired setting then re-fill. It's the Law.

    A good example.

I think I read this differently. @finnymonster, did your second regulator start out at 30 before you did anything?

Seems like a bad regulator. Check the needle seat. My taprite dual leaks and i even tried a new kit.
