Dunno. Where are you? Around here (Southcentral PA) nothing has changed. Did you ask your supplier why the price nearly doubled?

NW Ohio, they said it was corporate . I can exchange tanks for $14 at another place farther away. The $20 place is in route to my work but they are never OPEN although they are there. Going to get 2 tank

    Cheers

I would do that regardless of the price of refills. (I have three.) You never know when a tank will kick, though Murphy's Law would cause it to happen at the most inconvenient time.

We charge 14.99 for an exchange. Seems reasonable.

I pay $8 or 9 for a fill. Well, actually, I don't pay for it, my company does. I think I get a discount, because I have them drop them off at work for me, when they come to replace our N2 and propane tanks. Guy will toss it in the truck for me..

I have seen the prices fluctuate a bit though, across the board.
