What is the deal with the Coffee Abraxas? What types of beers does it trade for? Is it more limited than BA Abraxas?
Yes more limited. Last year, first time bottled, I believe it was 300 or 320 on the bottle count. Trade value varied but ranged around 2013 Prop 1:1, as that got done a few times. This year at the release on Saturday, STLEric who handed out the tickets stated they sold 280 bottles. Current offers have ranged as high as: (v14 + BAVSS + a pick), and also the 2014 BAMC set. Some of us who were fortunate to get multiples between the early morning line and the VIP allotments are simply taking care of regular trading partners and friends, therefore the market is going to be tough. GL OP. This year they used a Sump Mexican Coffee for the batch and it blends in really well. This year's batch of regular Abraxas is hella good too.
I'm in negotiation with a trader and he referred to this post, hinting at 2 current offers you quoted as references so I dug around to see what's going on. Instead of sending the info to just him, I figure I'd post here so that others can see the info as well to reign in some expectation (at least as of this posting). Regarding the Cake set, here's an example of what was closed: Set + Zhukov + Backyard for Kyoto Sump + Coffee + Regular. See FT: BA Cake set + list ISO: Kyoto Sump + Coffee Abraxas Here's an offer that didn't go through and BVDL has traded for Cake set or Cake set + (@IPAIsaac can attest to that) FT: BA Abraxas, Coffee Abraxas & Abraxas ISO: 14 BA Vanilla Bean Dark Lord Here's another ISO @evilcatfish looking for 1+ or 2:1 with a nice plus, which is in line with what BA Cakes being offered. I'm not sure if it's closed though, but likely: FT: Coffee Abraxas ISO: BA Cake(s) There was another BA Cake set offered for Coffee+ but stated that he will break the set up for just coffee. I can't find the link to that, but again, it's not a BA Cake set for Coffee 1:1. Regarding the V014+BAVSS, it was posted by @Rish907 here: ISO: Coffee Abraxas (Pre) | FT: Veritas 014 + BA VSS (Pre) No plus and if anyone ever traded with Rishi, you know that he always offer WAYYYY over. I've traded with him twice so I know it well. The point is, this offer is not the norm by any means. Here are other offers to show what people are willing to give up for Coffee Abraxas (whether or not they got done is another story, but nonetheless it shows what people are willing to give up): http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/search/30280566/?q=coffee+abraxas&o=date&c[node]=25 @DooshBagalow , I'm not trying to attack your comment. Just want to inject some sanity into expectation based on trade history.
There was a thread on Saturday while I was at the release where I was tagged to by my pal @hey5hitgoose which was the same as the @Rish907 pre-offer but with a pick plus, most likely because a pre-trade didn't get done and he wanted to close a deal? Anyways I requested my friend to reach out for me since I was pre-occupied in bottle sharing and pours, which they did contact me, though the base of his offer was missing from the message and only the specific pick option was mentioned, so I haven't replied because as you have also discovered, that thread has been deleted and I'm not interested in any bait and switch. *shrug* My bad on not initially recalling that the BAMC set asked for an obvious + on the Coffee Abraxas side though. My point to highlighting those offers is just that you can always try offering a lower value bottle or combo, but going the route of Prop-level, or slinging @Rish907 type of offers is more likely to get it done, and quicker.
I traded BA Cake set Mexican Cake Backyard Zhukov for Kyoto Sump Coffee Abraxas Abraxas Hard to say what the Coffee Abraxas actually traded for but MC + Zhukov probably goes for regular Abraxas and maybe DB Cake+Backyard for Coffee and the 4 Roses/Tequila for Kyoto. I think I got a pretty solid deal but, again, with so many bottles it's hard to say what went where
I got a Coffee Abraxas (2013) for Huna '14+Darkness '13+Sump+Abraxas '13. this was not that long ago, and the Coffee Abraxas was very good, but the worst of the 3 we drank one night (along w/ reg & BA)
