Sales clerk could of been full of it. The had a decent beer selection and a full stock of other GI beers like Lolita, Pepe Nero, Matilda. Shop probably does a good bit of AB sales but its small, cant imagine its much different than most packies in the area.

No social media or announcements of any kind out of this shop so maybe it was just missed.

I'm sure that Lolita is gone by now...

I totally understand why a store like that would be missed - I think that's basically what I said earlier in the thread about how the only stores left with it are ones nobody knows about. That said, what I don't understand is how they even got it? They clearly don't do much beer geek volume if those beers have just been sitting around on shelves. So why give them the rarities?

When I was last at Julio's they had Lolita on the shelves. That was maybe 2 weeks ago.

i picked up several coffees at a local low-profile store - i never shop there, but went in on a lark, recalling how i found night stalker there once upon a time. they carry a decent amount of craft, but i was still surprised to see them there.

I was told specifically by the GI rep that they were allocating them based on GI sales and facings, etc. If it was based on Bud sales, Blanchards Allston would have gotten the 40 bottles instead of 1 case each.

But there's no possible way this tiny store in Bellingham that nobody in the craft industry seems to know about is pumping out enough Goose Island beers to justify that kind of allotment. If they did we'd know about the store. $10 bombers of Belgian Pale Ales with Brett are not exactly Sam Adams 12-pack alternatives for the casual craft crowd. Further to it, if they did sell that much Goose Island beer, then those Bramble/Coffee bottles should have flown off the shelves as 40 bottles really isn't very much at all (even though it's more than most stores got).

All good points. Bud driver ran over his dog in the street while making the delivery and left the cases as repayment?

trust me, they did not get even a close sniff to that amount... nonetheless, you'll have to take my word that we "cater" to the accounts that loyally support the GI brand all year long... just trying to pass along if i see anything remaining in the trade...Cheers!

Julio's is claiming they got very little. I would definitely say that they loyally support GI brand all year long.

I'm sure they do. Julio's is a great store. Just remember, there are 7 wholesalers in MA that supply GI throughout the state. Again, i can only speak for our territory and our practices.... and again, just trying to let people know if I see any in the trade...

Guys, here's the deal: First of all, I called the store right after the post was made about Gateway having the Coffee. I had the guy hold 2 bottles for me (I'm the guy who drove from Providence). He only had 6 BOTTLES TOTAL of it. This was not a big deal. He does not get a ton of AB. He told me he had someone who works at the warehouse ask him if he wanted the Coffee and Bramble, he said yes. I asked him about King Henry, and he said he was offered it but turned it down. He only had a few bottles of each, and before that post was made about it being there, I don't think he had sold a single bottle yet. I have NO clue where the number 40 came from, because it is ridiculous and totally untrue. He's just one guy running the place, and he owns it. Not a bad beer selection, but not crazy either. Couldn't have been nicer of a guy though. He didn't know every beer in existence, and I could tell he did not know just how sought after these brews were. Which yes, then I agree it is silly for them to be in that particular store, but at the same time, it's kind of nice to find hidden treasures that everyone can have a fair shot at getting, even after the hoards and hoards of BA's clear out Julio's within 10 minutes of it being posted online. It's like getting a second and third chance, each time someone sees it at another store that no one knew about.
Furthermore, I went to that store Medfield Wine Shoppe to grab the King Henry...they had almost no beer at all, and certainly no Bud...so this whole theory of AB only shipping out these rare GI brews to stores that sell the most, is not true at all.

FYI I picked up Bramble Rye and Lolita at Wollaston Liquors in Quincy. At least 4 of each left. Go Wild!

That seems to be the way to go on these beers. I inquired at a few not-so-craft-centric shops in the last week that I usually pass by on my day to day in the South End/JP/Roslindale/West Roxbury areas. Some of them said they had it and I missed it by a day or so. It usually involved some confused looks and referrals to the people that order everything in small shops and a comment somewhere along the lines of, "we got that fancy coffee beer that was really expensive, but some guy came in a bought a ton of what we got."

GI-InBev is keeping beer hunters on their toes!

I got some Coffee at a small place up in North Andover, and like you were saying, it wasn't your typical craft place. I kinda gathered from them that AB InBev was hooking up stores that pre-orded the most Bud Light Platinum or had sold the most AB product in the last year, etc.
