Well i thought that coffee stouts would age well but have read differing views
I had a year old FBS and thought it was fantastic
but at this time I have a lot of stouts and coffee stouts that I just dont have time to get to drink at the moment they are just in my regular refrigerator due to my cellaring fridge is packed full
Are these beers going to be good 6 months down the line ?

They'll still be good and should have a decent amount of coffee left after 6 months, especially if they're refrigerated. How much coffee do you like in your coffee stouts? If you prefer coffee bombs you'll want to drink them ASAP, but if you want the coffee to be a little more subtle, you might actually prefer them with age.

And I completely agree with you on year old FBS. Even though I prefer my coffee stouts to be very strong in the coffee department, you don't really appreciate the depth of chocolate flavor in FBS when it's fresh.

I always buy extra breakfast stout to sit on because it so great with a year of age the chocolate really comes out which is my favorite part of the beer. I just opened a 2010 KBS and it was amazing, still had some notes of coffee but for me the silky chocolate really took over with end notes of leather and tobacco. I love to age my coffee beers because I'm not a huge coffee bomb fan. I have some year old Black Xantus and some BCS coffee that are just awesome ith a little age.

I'm drinking a four year old Pisgah Valdez that I found hiding in my cellar. I wasn't sure what to expect but the coffee flavor is farily intense though it is somewhat sweeter than I would like. I was surprised it held up this well with a 6.5% ABV.

Did a BCS Coffee vertical a few weeks back and the difference between fresh and 1 year old is HUGE. Fresh was a ton of freshly roasted coffee, like walking into a roaster and all others were stale bitter coffee notes. I'm drinking all of my fresh from here on out.

I've been drinking away at 2012 espresso oaked yeti, and with almost a year on it I feel it's drinking way better than fresh. GDBC loves hopping the shit out of their beers, and when I drank this fresh the roasted flavors of the malt and coffee with the bitterness pf the hops really made it a bitter pill to swallow. The last one I had was at thanksgiving and it was the best coffee stout I have ever had. Can't wait for the nexxt batch!
