Q: Will cold-crashing drop the hops dust out of the brew?

Background: I just put a batch of black IPA into secondary and dry hopped it. No socks, bags, dumped it right in.

The batch was very bright after about a month in primary. It didn’t need to wait that long, but life happens. Anyway, the Centennial I included in the dry hopping is really “dusty”. So was the Belma I got from the same place.

I don’t think cold crashing will clear it up since the issue isn’t related to solubility.

What say ye? Agree / disagree?

    Cheers!!!

First.... you don't have to secondary. Second... yes a cold crash will help clear your beer and get all the nasty bits out of final packaging.

I like to harvest the yeast without having a ton of crud in it. Otherwise, the batches stay in the same fermenter until bottling. Except for when I do primary with one yeast, transfer, and then ferment with a Brett. In that case, it’s mainly so I can harvest the first yeast all by itself.

    Cheers

First...Good for you for using secondary fermentation! Your beer will be clearer, and you will know for a fact that it’s done brewing by visual inspection!

Second...yes a cold crash will help clear your beer and get all the nasty bits out of final packaging.
