Hey All: I'm a little out of the loop, so sorry if this question has been addressed elsewhere--couldn't find anything via a quick search. Who in DC is keeping their Flower Power refrigerated? Picked up a 6-pack at Rodman's last night, and it was unfortunately kept on the shelves over by the windows. It was still solid, of course, but nothing like a fresh, well-cared for FP. Completely understand that shelf and cooler space is limited, yada-yada, but I'm hoping someone in town regularly has it in the fridge. Will check Whole Foods on P later today and report back if I don't hear anything. Cheers,
Last month when I took a trip into DC Conn Ave Liquors had Flower Power in their fridge. P Street didn't have it when I was there but this was over a month ago when I think FP has just started to hit DC so they probably just didn't have it in stock yet.
the cubboard (15th and east capitol) has been receiving weekly shipments since they started distributing 2 months ago. usually have 4-6 cold 6-packs available at any given time.
Awesome. Thanks to all for the suggestions! Knew I could rely on the collective wisdom of the board. Cheers,
While P St. has some in the fridge, most of it is in a HUGE pile outside of refrigeration so who knows how long anything has been cold. The cold ones might have been just placed there from that pile.
Hate to break it to you guys but these are typically not refrigerated: 1) Truck from brewery to wholesaler 2) Wholesaler's warehouse 3) Truck from wholesaler to retailer 4) Retailer's backspace But that's okay because this isn't a recent development. Your IPAs that were great before you read this thread, and were "subjected" to all this, too. And they tasted great.
True but from the brewery to the store the 6 packs are in cases, protected from light, which is the real problem. Freshness is another issue and any ipa subjected to sitting on a shelf, not refrigerated, subject to constant light, is not going to taste as good as a fresh one in the cooler.
In most of the store I shop at the lights in the cooler are much brighter than the lights on the shelves.
This was maybe two weeks ago, but Whole Foods in Falls Church had it in chilled 6 packs and on tap. $5 for a 32 oz growler.
