Highlands had their release party last Thursday, people started lining up at 10 AM for the 4 PM release. :astonished:

Hits the grocery stores today...... probably won't last till noon. Local Ingle's rolled a pallet out, cut off the plastic and it disappeared fast.

Haven't had it this year, but was able to pick up 4 boxes.

I know this is a polarizing beer but interesting how it disappears that fast there. Here in the VA beach area, I remember last year seeing cold mountain on the shelf for a few weeks at least, but maybe that was an exception at that shop?
I had one & it wasn't for me.

No, Asheville is the only place where it goes super quick. I've heard that in Charlotte and Raleigh it can sometimes sit for months. The only reason it's so sought after here is because it's been an Asheville tradition for over a decade. Back when it first came out, there were very few other beers like it available. Now there are many winter warmers/spiced beers on the market that are just as good if not better than it, but the hype remains. Funny how that works.

It just pretty much sold out in all of Charlotte within hours yesterday my friend. I don't get the hype either, but NC loves their cold mountain

Yeah and then more waves of it come in for the next month and then you can pick it up pretty much whenever you want. But yes, the first wave always goes fast in CLT As to why? Who knows. I've never wanted more than a 12oz bottle or draft a year but to each its own.

I'd give the imperial version a try if I saw it on tap, but this and other winter warmers I've tried just aren't my thing.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Cold Mountain. It's been an institution for a while.
The imperial version was brewed for this anniversary. You can find draught in the immediate AVL area, but the bottles were a brewery-only release.
    It's good.
