My apologies if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it. Is there any harm in buying beer cold and then transferring to the cellar? Cellar would be warmer than the store, so wasn't sure if that would be a problem.

Don't forget, beer isn't transported in refrigerated trucks or anything...so it leaves the brewery, sits on a truck warm, then goes into a distributor's warehouse, then on another truck, then to the store, then sits in back, then goes into the cooler...

The point is, beer goes through a lot to even get to the store. Sticking it in a cellar will be just fine.

I guess it depends on where you are at, at least some distributors keep the beer refrigerated during storage and insulated during transport.

The reason that is is nothing to worry about is because of the rate of oxidization and chemical reactions in the beer is so slow that very little happens within the days or weeks that the beer is changing hands.

Some will tell you to 'ease' beers into different temperatures if possible by using an intermediate temperature storage step, but stuff like that is for peace of mind, not for the beer's well-being.
