Has there ever been a collaboration beer that ended up being the highest rated/ best beer made by either of the 2 breweries independently from all their other beers made? Just wondering.

Agree, or at least more pedestrian a beer than what each brewer is capable of independently. That is why I thought the question was worth asking.

Mexican Cake is little higher but close.

I suspect it is very unlikely that a collab would eclipse any one breweries multiple brews--would need to be a stroke of luck but with 4-5000 breweries out their--who knows?

The Super IPA that New Belgium did with Alpine eclipsed anything that I ever had from NB--was not up to the Nelson of old but perhaps now--would take it in a heart beat.
