I was trying to detox for one night but I thought a night cap would help me get ready for bed.

Most importantly I wanted to see if my memory served me correct from last week's tasting when I thought Collage was the best beer of 2012. Well... It is, and I can't get over how good it is. It's got so much going on it's almost crazy.

The smell has some booze which I like and then the first sip packs a whallop of sour that dissapates into pure magic. This beer is perfection - have I peaked? 5/5 and 6 on Friday's...

...Really? I thought this was among the worst beers I've had this year (Idiot's Drool is definitely worse, though). I drainpoured it. I find it actually shocking that it's that high, I figured it'd be like a 60.

Did this get opened after numerous beers? It is great. Needs some aging, and then we will see. I love the beers put into this blend except for the Stoic. Makes me wonder.

First and only beer of the night. Last time I had it I was pretty sauced.

I love the fact that it touches so many styles. It's like an early Vertical epic aged in red wine barrels with a sour kick to the balls.

I loved this beer. It's the best i've had this year so far.

No. It's a clusterfuck of beers that need some serious aging. Pardon my language. It's gonna be awesome at some point. I hated the Stoic, and that may be why I am so skeptical.

It tastes like a Westy 12 that had a 3 way with Juliet and Adam

I, too, think this beer is great right out of the gate...after breathing for an hour and coming to room temp.

Just had this for the first time the other night and while it's good, I think it will get better with time (hence the "best after" date). Definitely a complex and unique beer, but I think it needs a little more time to gel. I've got 11 more bottles I'm going to leave in the cellar for a while.

Best beer of the year? No. But probably one of the most interesting.

Funny you should say that. I drank it at 55 and I'vegot about 2/5th left an hour after the pour. It's really opening up.

I think it's soo key to let this one breath, warm up... And breath and warm up some more. I cracked it, let it sit for an hour, then poured it and it was drunk over the course of 90+ minutes. I really enjoyed the beer, and when people ask me about it, usually I tell them it is not a beer I'd share with most people, or even most beer drinkers. It's profoundly complex, and really, really unique.

As far as the score goes, I'm actually surprised it's scored so high on this site. I don't think it plays along with most of the top beers on the site (big, sweet, boozy, barrel aged and thick...or just sour and hard to get). I suspect the score will fall over time - which is great! Because I would hate for this beer to become difficult to obtain.

The oak layers by themselves are incredible when it warms up. I am psyched to see how this develops with some age as well.

It's pretty good cold, but astonishing once it reaches room temp. I can't wait to try this over the next year to see where the journey takes me!

Overhyped but its a good beer. No wow factor but its a solid 7/10 on my tough scale.

Definitely the most interesting beer I've had this year.

Wanted to try this really bad, then I started reading peoples responses to having tried it, and I decided I couldn't justify the price. Ended up grabbing more Uncle Jacob's Stout instead, which was definitely worth it.

That all said, I am starting to wish I would have just gone for it and given this a shot. Especially after reading this thread.

As oaky a beer as I've ever had. I hope it comes together. It was interesting, but the one bottle I opened got tiresome even sharing with two other people.
