I bought one bottle of Collage from Letspour and traded for six others. The six I received have solid black bottle caps, while the one I received from Letspour had a decorative green and white cap.

Not sure if I got duped, but thought I would throw it out here to see if anyone else has noticed different caps.

    Thanks

    Joe

The four bottles I've purchased here in CO have a gold cap with a teal top. "No. 1" is printed on the teal top.

I know that some bottles distributed in Idaho had the solid black caps, and those distributed here (Davis, CA) had the decorative green. Not sure what gives, but pretty sure both are legit. Anyone know the story behind this?

I've been saving all the caps from all the beers I've had in the last two years.....

Not likely. The Deschutes bottle (used also for Collage) is pretty distinctive, with a raised pattern of hop vines going around the shoulder. And a standard Deschutes bottle typically also has the burgundy Deschutes cap. So if OP's black-cap Collage is in the Deschutes-style bottle, then the person he got it from would have had to switch out both the label and the cap somehow.

I've only ever seen Collage w/ the greenish "No.1" cap, but who knows, maybe they ran out during bottling or didn't order enough. A lot more of these bottles of this were certainly made than I ever expected.

Ummm...is it just possible the brewery ran out of one type of cap during the bottling and had to switch?
I know that's kind of a wild and crazy tinfoil hat conspiracy theory, but ya never know.

The black caps were aged in PVW barrels.

    Heard it from a guy.

I got black caps from Brewforia, so I would say you have nothing to worry about. Cheers!
