did a small search , but didn't find anything significant. Does anybody collect these recycled cardboard coasters that feature beer brand names or the logos?? I mean the classic stuff, not the stuff with contests or local promotions. Got a cardboard box-full of them, mostly from Belgium and neighbouring countries... However, those good coasters (those with proper beer brands are getting rarer >> most of them are poluted by soft drink) in Belgium. Is that the case in other countries??
I usually try to grab a few coasters from the breweries I visit..cheap, free souvenier. Here in the States they're pretty much all beer (usually Bud/Miller/Coors in non craft beer places, but if you go to a taproom or craft joint it's all craft brands)
My experience has been that only about 10% of American craft breweries use coasters, and I try to get one or two from every brewery that I visit. Sometimes I have to accept the wet one that I was using, but other times I'll be given a new one if I ask.
Like others have said, I grab most of mine at visits to breweries, bars, and restaurants. I then push-pin mine up in the rafters of my basement beer area.
Ok, I was probably lucky as in Belgium, these coasters are on all tables, sometimes in poor shape from multiple uses, but the batender has always got loads behind the counter Indeed, these are free from the brewers (often along with the glasses) if the café/bistro if your a regular order and sell their stuff well. I'll try to post a picture of the box filled with them ... I know what I want to do with them, but I'm waiting until I find a permanent oplace for me to live.
chose promise, chose due... But, Photo is made, but I have no photobucket (or others of the kind ) and there is no way to upload directly from the computer!!!
