For variety and price, its hard to beat Sam Adams seasonal variety packs. Most of the canned crafts I've had are pretty reasonable for price too.

I know it's not the greatest beer, but on the cheap Gennesee Cream Ale isn't bad.

What Hramz said. You can go to the PBC brewery and actually mix and match a case for $27. Nothing is outstanding but you can get a good variety of fairly good beers for cheap. Also if you go down the road from there, the beer distributor on York st. has $31 cases of lagunitas IPA. One of the better prices I've seen. Happy hunting and Cheers.

I graduated from Temple about 5 years ago, and am from the area. I agree with this statement.

Lionshead was a go to back then. I think it was $12 a case and for being a cheap adjunt lager, it shits all over Bud. We also used to drink a lot of Golden Monkey. Not the greatest tripel, but for the price and almost 10% abv it was always a good time. Also used to save up so when Mad Elf came out in the winter you could nurse a case and alternate with Lionshead. Possibly an effective strategy for having to deal with PA beer distributors and cases only, doesn't have to be Mad Elf, just a nice high abv brew...Tired Hands was mentioned, and is walking distance from the Paoli line train stop. I would make appearances there a regular occurrence.

See if you can find a brewery sale. In college I went to a Rogue dock sale and bought 24 cases of beer from the brewery... Yeah Rogue on a college budget, I got cases for $9, so 12 bombers for $9 did me damn fine for a long time

I am in the same boat as you! What I try to do is get a good six pack, or maybe a few singles a week. I have two jobs so that helps to finance it. Sometimes Il opt to maybe drink BMC on the weekends if its offered to me, and then during the week go out to a few local bars and try their offerings, which are pretty damned good.
