Have a friend heading to Colorado and he said he'd pick me up a six pack of readily available beer while he's there. Anything in particular I should ask for? I'm looking for good IPAs or Wheat beers that are easy to get in Colorado but not outside the state/area. Thanks!
Colorado beers, not sure how widely they are distributed: Ska - Modus Hoperandi Odell - IPA Odell - Myrcenary dIPA Great Divide - Titan Breckenridge - 471 dIPA Backcountry - Pale (old school IPA) Comrade - Superpower (Growler only) Strange - Breakfast IPA (bomber) Out state: Ballast Point - Sculpin Squatters - Hop Rising Green Flash - Palate Wrecker dIPA, West Coast IPA, Soul Style IPA Santa Fe - Happy Camper IPA Wheat beers....I think the best are draft only
Most of our best wheat beers are sadly either no longer being brewed or they've changed dramatically. The best current one is easily Dry Dock's Hefeweizen. Left Hand's Haystack would probably next. Wynkoop's Wixa Weiss is good if it's fresh. After those, there's a hefty drop off. River North's wit is fine. Most of the others are American wheat beers and fruited ones. I'm not a huge fan, but I've recently become a fan of Estes Park's Stinger as a chugger.
Ft. Collins Hefe was fantastic, and German as hell... but for some weird reason, it's only a seasonal and not part of their year-round lineup.
Vindication's Wheat is tasty and they do bottle it, though it's not in every store. Have bombers at the brewery for $5 on Saturdays, as well as $4 off of growlers.
