Summer is on the way, session beer day is too, and I am already over the dense and heavy stouts. Stopped in at 105w in Castle Rock this afternoon, grabbed a crowler of their English Bitter. Flavor is on point, malty but well attenuated, not over the top with the crystal malts, hops are earthy and tea like, and at % 4.3 abv I can kill this crowler alone and still work tomorrow.

Looking to grab some cold from TRVE next week for similar reasons.

TRVE, Prost, and Hogshead immediately came to mind for the Denver area.

Bierstadt is my new homie for the summer, especially with crowlers at $5.

Actually, I keep getting Prost and Bierstadt mixed up. No idea why :stuck_out_tongue:.
That's what I meant, too. Although, Prost has gotten back to being really good again.

My go-to is Howdy Beer, the pilsner from The Post in Lafayette. I'm also a big fan of Elevation 8 Second Kolsch, Bootstrap Sticks Pale Ale, and if 4Noses brings back the galaxy dry hopped Proboscis.

My favorite easy-drinking beer in Colorado is probably Solid Gold Belgian Golden Ale from Cannonball Creek, but sitting at 7.4% I'm not sure if its quite a session beer :stuck_out_tongue:

I tend to think of session beers as having "two flavors:
-Summertime poolside/camping beers that I want to crush all day in the sun: Grimm Brothers (Fearless Youth, Farmers Daughter, Little Red Cap), Prost (both weizens, Pils), Sticks PA, Odell 5 Barrel, Avery Liliko'i Kepolo

-Hanging out in a pub for several hours with friends: Comrade Koffee Kream Stout (unbelievable amount of flavor at <5% ABV), Odell Cutthroat, Finkel and Garf Oatmeal Milk Stout

I'm a big fan of Cannonball Creek Trump Hands. Amazing amount of flavor from a session IPA with only ~4.5% abv. I just wish I could get it in cans so that I could take it on hiking trips.

Zwei is my jam. Their pils and helles are wonderful session beers.

    Sticks is another great suggestion.

I'm also a big fan of Howdy. It's not technically from Colorado, but 'Beer' from La Cumbre is pretty damn tasty and easy drinking.

Trying to keep myself to 4.5% and under:

    Post Howdy Beer
    Crooked Stave Vieille
Crooked Stave Huguenot (but that's a one off, I think)
    Caution The Earl
    Oskar Blues Beerito

Is that one seasonal or being retired? A buddy and I looked everywhere and can't seem to find it.

I think it might be a victim of the grocery store law because it hovers right around 4% ABV. You can get it at Oskar Blues, but I haven't seen it in a liquor store.

I saw it at King Soopers yesterday, which made me immediately not want to buy it.

    TRVE and Bierstadt.

I know I am in the minority but I have always been a fan of Odell's Loose Leaf.

Loose leaf is a better session pale for certain, but even the best session ipas still leave me wanting more body and booze to balance the hops. The Brits and Krauts have session on lockdown.

I hope Beerito doesn't disappear - it's awesome. Never had the canned one (only seen it at the grocery store) but Old Chicago had it for a few months last year.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'll drink Banquet Beer if I need something light and uncomplicated.

That being said, my favorite Colorado session beer is probably Casey The Low End.

    More Bieres de Table, please.

I love gueuze and other wild ales but I struggle with the sour-ish beers as session beers. Not sure what it is...but I much prefer beers like Bierstadt's Slow Pour (which may be my second favorite) or Post Howdy to something like Liliko'i.

And yeah, I have yet to meet a session IPA that I want to drink a lot of.

I actually have never looked at Loose Leaf as being a session ipa/apa. I guess it does fall in there but I fell for their marketing of it simply as an American session ale.
