I'm going to be out in the Colorado Springs area in a couple weeks. Any reccomendations on good bottle shops and to a lesser extent bars? Thanks in advance.

Coaltrain, Weber Street, and Veteran's will probably be the top three answers for bottle shops. Not sure about bars, but can always hit Trinity. A new brewery, Red Leg just opened up recently. Relatively near Trinity, but I haven't been in yet, so can't speak for their brews.

Phantom Canyon is an underrated stop for beer and is dirt-cheap during happy hour (2.75 pints). bigaltemple hit most of the relevant bottle shops for you.

I always have a ton of fun at Phantom Canyon. The pool hall upstairs + 2.75 cask pints can't be beat. I went here 4 times on my last 3 day trip to CS...

Also Brewers Republic is a great place. Got a bottle of Anchorage Galaxy to share with friends for something like $10. Decent draft list that even allowed me excuse the bartender who served me oxidized Odell IPA then argued about it with me when I told her about it.

Aside from Coaltrain (top store),Weber St and Veterans, J&K Liquors has a lot of stuff that has been long long gone (yes, two longs) from a lot of stores and Joe and Kim are super nice. Cheers Liquor Mart also has a solid selection of bombers. Brewers Republic, Front Range BBQ and Trinity are your bar stops. Beer is typically meh, but I hear the new Bristol Brewery is gorgeous.

If you get a chance, drive 15 minutes north on 25 and go to Pikes Peak Brewing. Decent beer and a great view of the mountains.

You can also check out Bristol Brewing Co's new digs at Ivywild. It's fast becoming a favorite drinking spot for me.

    I'll 2nd Coaltrain and J&K as they are my go too's

Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum so please be gentle....

I too will be visiting Colorado Springs in about four weeks. I fly into Denver and will drive to the Mining Exchange Hotel where I'll be staying for several days. I live in Hawaii and whenver I get to the mainland I search for a grad school favorite beer of mine that isn't available here, Molson Golden Ale. Would anyone be able to point me to a store that carries it in the Denver or Colorado Springs area?

One other comment: This is a great forum and I'm looking forward to taking advaantage of some of the local brewery tips already posted!
