I had their 4 beers available at Victoria's and enjoyed the IPA and really enjoyed the Citra Double IPA. I was not a fan of the other 2, but would definitely drink more of the hoppy ones.

I just saw that Bulk Head's main brewer has been homebrewing for a year. I have a feeling they'll be following the 2014 and 2015 model of opening a brewery:

    1) More money than brains
    2) Realize they aren't prepared to brew commercially on a commercial scale
    3) Hire brewer from another brewery with experience to take over as brewmaster

    More power to 'em though.

That seems to be the consistent model for the new breweries opening up in MD/VA. Retired beltway bandits who want to start a small brewery for thrills, but can't do very good beers. Nice fancy brand new taphouses, subpar product.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input. Definitely hit up some good places in Columbia:

Jailbreak (was fine, some decent beers but no food so on to...)
Alehouse (lots of cool finds including Stickee Monkee which didn't make it to my hometown)
Perfect Pour (MD and VA have pretty much the exact same distro, but nice size place to grab a few for the hotel)
Victoria's (awesome food, solid beer - definitely the highlight for me)
DuClaw (just to grab a pint before a movie)

Anyway, just wanted to round this out and say thanks again to all for the input!
