gonna be in Columbia for a couple of days seeing Widespread Panic...looks like Green's is the best bottle shop and they have a Flying Saucer and World of Beer...anything I am missing that is less chain like in the downtown area?

That's about it. The Green's on Piney Grove has the best bottle selection (and the one on Assembly's not bad, either) and WOB's got the best beer list in the city. Hunter-Gatherer on Main St. is a great brewpub with amazing food to boot.

I'd say World of Beer is better than Flying Saucer for things you can't get in NC.

Turds? I'll take any WSP show with Derek or warren sitting in. Even if its just an extended set. Enjoy it while its out there.

I enjoyed IT while IT was out there. What's out there now is IMO not worth the ticket price.
Why play One Kind Favor with Warren when you can play Chilly with Warren... Again?
Why play Good Morning Little Schoolgirl with Derek when you can play Fishwater with Derek... Again?
That being said, I'm looking forward to Columbia, but my expectations are low. They have been since August 2002. I love those guys, but my gripe with them has always been their tendency to under achieve in a time and place where a little stepping out of the box was called for. See 6/9/98. That's how you do a one set festival show.
THAT being said, I hope to see some of you freaks there.

Chicago with Warren? And ******!! I'd love to hear that.....And breaking out a Morrison tune that hasn't seen light since '98 with Derek? Even better. If you've been waiting since 2002, then move on my friend. Bust outs have been happening quite a bit over the past few years.

Let's be clear. There is no ill will here at all. I'm proud of those guys for soldiering on. Even when they were at the height of their power (97-02), my gripe was always the same. They'd kill it, then encore with Nobody's Loss > Tallboy. We used to call that "fumbling in the end zone".
I've moved on, but I still pull for the Home Team!

I know you're probably gone since WSP played Tuesday and Wednesday night, but I think WOB is more friendly to bottle sharing than Saucer, but you'd need to know who to talk to, and share (of course)

Couple of good shows they were. Blew away Florida. That town must of been nuts.
