Best places in Columbia, SC area? Visiting parents down there next week and looking for places to go. Appears that Columbia Craft seems to have the best beers?
I enjoy going to Columbia Craft, but I don’t think that their beers are superior to the other local breweries. A better bet would be to spend time at one of the better beer bars close to where you will be staying. Craft and Draft on Devine and in Irmo, The Whig on Main Street, WECO Beergarden (also owned by The Whig) across the river are good. Steel Hands and Savage Brewing in Cayce, Hazelwood in Lexington, River Rat and Swamp Cabbage are all popular breweries which you would enjoy. Hunter Gatherer has a brew pub near campus and a separate facility in a renovated Curtis Wright hanger at the downtown airport. No excuse for not having a good time here.
