wasn't a direct shot at anything other than a response to an above comment regarding cloudiness.

Bodhi bottles after new packaging line is up and running, and after we're comfortable with how the beer tastes coming off the new brewhaus. Will certainly take some kind of adjustment. I'd suspect sometime in the next couple months. We won't have new packaging line up and running til late Feb, most likely. So MAYBE March sometime?

Didn't you previously state you guys were going to continue to brew the unfiltered "hazy" bodhi after you guys took an informal poll on Facebook? Maybe I'm be delusional but I remember it being the case. Those batches were the best I've had.

Experimenting a bit w/ Bodhi. Today's batch being kegged was brewed with our old house yeast. It tastes and smells great, and is back to its former hazy self. Let us know what you like better!

I believe th bottle says the beer is a hazy orange. I like hazy. I don't necessarily want a floaty filled milkshake concistency but a bit of hazy makes me believe the unfiltered statement. Not sure how this became the prevailing theme of this thread but... Whatever.

Yeah, but even HAZY Bodhi isn't completely yeast obstructed, like Konkey.

Yep. I remember this. First, I would say that there is a big difference between a slight haze (which is very common in hop forward beers due to protein levels and polyphenols) and flat out turbidity. The latter is not desirable for us.
Back at that time, we were trying w yeast "A" to achieve the proper attenuation levels along with getting the yeast to flocculate (drop out) without having to add too many finings to the bright tank. We had some really bad batches that were super cloudy, much more than just "haze." Other batches were just slightly hazy and we were able to leave it alone. The problem was it just wasn't consistent, and we could not in good conscience continue to sell batches that were not only full of yeast, but under attenuated. We worked with what we had and just couldn't depend on it. That's how we ended up having to switching to yeast "B." It just performed better and more consistently.

For the record, we're still looking at all kinds of possibilities with the new brewery. It would be great if we could get the best of both worlds...perhaps some of the flavors and aromas of "old" Bodhi, but still get consistent yeast performance of "new" Bodhi. We'll keep working on it.

Thanks for your transparent, no pun intended, response on this issue. It still tastes fantastic hazy or not but I was always interested why it went back to hazy and then disappeared again. Thank you!

I've actually noticed similar CBC IPA issues... the fresh packs I've been picking up lately just taste different for some reason. I've even started picking up an "oniony" note with some fresh bottles. I would guess I started noticing this around 4-5 months ago.

yeah, we've noticed that too with a few batches. Not as prevalent lately, but I know what you're saying. Personally, I think a big part of it is the flavor (or lack thereof due to low ester production) we're getting from the other yeast. It's cleaner and ferments great, but it's almost too clean. When it attenuates super low, the end result can lean a little "harsh" from the hop load. Fruitier esters from the yeast would balance that out, me thinks.

It might also be coming from the Simcoe hops used, recent beers I have had with Simcoe have displayed what you describe as oniony. Simcoe is one of my favorite types to brew with but I think I might keep it out of mine until the next crop is available. I remember sometime around 2012 people complained of the onion note as well.

Interesting thought!?!?! One of my favorite DIPAs is South of Eleven and it's been crystal clear every time I've had it in the past, albeit draft only. Amazing beer. Easily their best IPA. Their canned IPAs I've tried have been very cloudy. I doubt this was their intention, but I really don't know... Blabe was fairly mediocre to me. Seemed to need more time in the tanks. Just my thought, as a brewer. Could have been an odd yeast strain though..

My personal preference, IPAs are much more appealing when clear. There is something amazing about drinking a beer that looks like a Bud and tastes like a hoppy tropical dank citrus bomb.

Haze, however, is not bad.. I've noticed CIPA get quite a bit more clear over the years, but you'll notice a haze come into effect when the last few drops of the bottle are poured.

I've always picked up a slight onion flavor from Columbus IPA and always chalked it up to Simcoe hops.

Let's classify beer lovers as new bodhi or old bodhi. I'm still excited for the new place and it will be a welcome Best of 2016 for me for sure.

If you're crazy, then I am too. I'm back in Ohio for the first time since June. Columbus IPA is a beer I seek out every time I back. Picked up a sixer of 16015 (1/15/16, I assume). It's not the same beer I remember. It's one-note astringent pine/sap bitter and nothing else. The beer I remember is much more nuanced, with a fruity, floral aroma and a smoother finish. I'll keep buying it whenever I'm back home, so I hope this was just a particularly "off" batch.
