I'm going to be coming through Columbus on my way to Mid Ohio Sport Car Course next Thursday early afternoon. I was hoping to stop by Hoof Hearted tap room, but it looks like they don't open until three. Does any of their beer make it to distro? If so, where should I go? Any recommendations for the Mansfield area would also be much appreciated. I won't have a lot of time, but would like to find some good beers. Thanks a lot!
Best location near Mansfield is 1803 Taproom in Galion. They specialize in Ohio beers that can't be easily found elsewhere. Unfortunately, only open Thur-Sunday. Phoenix in Mansfield is OK but the same limited hours. However, if you have evenings free either of those will be good options. I'd go with 1803 personally. Plenty of great brewpubs in Columbus.
Hoof Hearted doesn't make it to distro, expect for some kegs make it to the daily growler locations on occasion and sometimes to a stray bar, but only real option is to stop at the brewpub and fill up a growler.
Is there anything on the shelves in Columbus right now that I should definitely try? My buddy is coming up from Athens and wants me to make him a list. I'm good on Jackie O's, but anything from CBC, North High, Rhinegeist, or any other Ohio stuff that is around right now that a layman would be able to easily grab?
Rhinegeist - Truth CBC IPA Might still be Madtree - Galaxy High, floating around the area All three of those are solid to great beers! Look for Fat Heads too.
Bodhi growlers. The Powell location of the Daily Growler has it on tap right now. Your buddy can check Weiland's, Pace High Carryout, Ohio Taproom, or Barrel and Bottle at the North Market too. Bodhi's usually on for growler fills somewhere in Columbus.

Didn't get to Hoof Hearted until about 10:30. Tried a few beers, but the other places closed at 12. I'll have to try and get in to town a little earlier next time. Thank you all for the recommendations. I'm headed to Weilands now.
I'm heading back up that way again tomorrow. This time will have two nights in Columbus. Hope to hit up Seventh Son and Wolf's Ridge this time.
