Columbus, OH - Recommendations

Honestly I'm mostly looking for stuff I won't be able to get in stores in Columbus, whether it be off season or limited or growler only. I'll most likely be stopping by FFF on the way and can mule something along from there as well.

I will definitely be open for drinks most of the weekend.

Do you know the corkage laws in OH?

 

Deschutes / Surly? Surly you're not serious. We wish. Personally I'm partial to Barley's Brewing - both locations. Check to see what is on tap at the 2 locations. If you go to Barley's Ale House on High St. there is a beer store in North Market. Good bottle selection and growler fills frequently including Jackie O's.

 

The owners of The Barrel & Bottle (store in North Market) are hipsters!!! AHHHHH! Decent shop though. I don't even live near Columbus, but I visit friends and family there frequently.

Go to Columbus Brewing Company for dinner (great food) and see if they have Bodhi!

Gotcha - if they still have Permanent Funeral or Toxic Revolution at FFF I would love to try those, other than that I'm mostly curious to try some standard Surly/Deschutes stuff since I've never had any of their beers. I've got a few cool things (Yazoo Sue, BA Blackout, Doom) I'd be happy to trade. Looks like you guys don't get Hoppin' Frog in MN, so I'd make sure to grab some while you're here - if you don't get the chance, let me know and I can pick up most anything from them for you.

AFAIK it's unfortunately not legal to pop your own bottles at a restaurant - I attended a tasting at a restaurant a few months ago that was BYOB, though, and they didn't seem too concerned about it.

 

Cool, thanks. I'll bring a wide assortment of stuff from MN when I come to OH. As time gets closer details can get worked out. We do get hoppin frog in Hudson WI, about 30 min from minneapolis so I have tried a few of the offering, all fantastic. I'll definitely hit Katzingers as well as a few other places.

If there is a bottle share going on while I'm there I would bring a Darkness and/or a Pentagram plus others to share.

If anyone else wants a mule or to do some IP trades for MN distro, let me know I'll do as much as I can.

Reviving this one. I'll be coming to Ohio a week from Friday with some surly and other delicious things. If someone were to host on Saturday afternoon I would crack a darkness and possibly an Abyss (plus others fun stuff) for a bottle share. Otherwise I'll just stick to trades.

 

Man, I'm in Columbus celebrating my sister's birthday and hanging out with friends. I'm leaving on Wednesday wish I could be there. I hope you have fun and are able to arrange something.

I'm having a small bottle share at a place called Café Bella tomorrow. I've never been to it, but BYOB places in Columbus are very rare from my expierence. I hope everything works out at this place or we'll just do the usual at some ones house. Cheers!

Well shite! I'm kind of doubting I can make it that late but if you and cynic want to grab a drink earlier and swap a couple bottles/cans I could help the tasting out. I'm also free until 6 on Friday to meet up.
