Sierra Nevada's Northern Hemisphere does it for me. Haven't found another beer like it although some come close.

I really enjoy their Cream Stout, too. And it's priced to go!

Something local. Highland Oatmeal Porter would be mine.

A BA stout and a steak eases my duress pretty easily.

Being from SLC, UT., I'd have to say anything from Uinta brewery. In particular, Uinta's Cutthroat Pale Ale and Uinta's Wyld Extra Pale Ale. They are always a staple.

Someone mentioned Sam Adam's Octoberfest. Man, I just revisited that beer for the first time in years and I really enjoyed it. Forgot how good it is, actually. Super clean, great toasted, caramel flavors, easy drinking. A classic, really. Might actually pick up one more sixer before it's gone.

A big ol' Russian Imperial Stout (I'm not picky...a majority of them will do the job) always makes me feel better.

A shot of Jack, followed by a Founders Breakfast Stout does the trick.

If I really need some "comfort", I'd prefer something rich, complex, but familiar. Suitable brews include St. Berdardus ABT 12, Westmalle Dubbel, Old Rasputin, and Bear Republic Big Bear Black Stout.
