So this will be my first time to Huna day and the Tampa area. I am looking for that cliche seafood spot on the beach, what do you y'all suggest? and maybe some cool beach spots. Then also looking for a a place on Sunday for brunch, willing to drive to go somewhere with some good food, we are staying close to Clearwater.

Peg's Cantina is close to a lot of beaches and has a good lunch. Fort Desoto is probably the best beaches around. St Pete Beach is full of good seafood spots but out of my area of expertise.

The Hurricane bar and grille in Pass a Grille is a good beach food place and Oystercatchers at the Tampa Grand Hyatt is the place to go for a Sunday brunch. Enjoy your stay!

There's only one answer to this question: Frenchy's. it's the one place locals go to even though it is mainly a tourist trap. Great grouper sandwich and amazing location right on the beach. For a nicer dinner, or affordable happy hour, my favorite is salt rock grill.

I second Frenchy's. Love that place.

Thanks all for the recommendations, if anyone has any other things that are must dos. I am sure the out of towners, like myself, would like to know what we can do in town.

If you're wanting to go to a higher price point for a meal, The Refinery. Reservations may be a tough get that weekend, but worth a shot.

Frenchys. Yes. Touristy but who cares. Cajun Café on the Bayou is cool for sure (but don't expect something quite as waterfront-hangout as it sounds. Cajun Café on the Kind of Like A Canal Or Something.)

You may want to look up the meaning of Bayou. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayou

Yep, that's exactly as I described. Kind of like a canal or something. So I wasn't wrong in saying so. Appreciated.

In other words Cajun Cafe on the Bayou is isnt like it sounds, it's more like Cajun Cafe on the [insert description of bayou]? Got it.

Anyway, all attempts to be helpful to this thread by making me look uneducated aside, the point is: Cajun Cafe on the Bayou is good. They have good food and beer.

Sunday brunch: Ricky P's downtown St. Pete (walking distance to Cycle and Green Bench) also, best shrimp and grits in the world.

Seafood spot at the beach: classy: Island Way Grill or Salt Rock Grill. Everyday local spot: Wahoos in Redindton Shores (you won't be disappointed).
