I'm not sure what to do in my scenario and would appreciate input from others on the site and possibly even a moderator reviewing one of my conversations to get his/her thoughts. Apologies in advance for the long post...

So, I agreed to a trade that involved a box of locals (mostly Prairie) for a box of locals (originally the individuals Post indicated "some BA limited release Jackue O's, Hoppin' Frog, bells, founders, etc.)...." Trade was discussed in February and we agreed to wait until I had a Pirate Bomb before initiating a trade request. I got a Pirate and we initiated the request on April 1st. Poor communication followed. My box was ready to go but I continued to receive delayed responses and one several occasions in April he agreed to ship and for whatever reasons, didn't. On 4/21 I said I was still good to trade so long as a couple things were met...I wanted to know what was in the box (this is something I asked a couple times with no response) and it had to be shipped the next day. The boxed morphed into a few Jackie O's stouts, a few other decent locals and a number of IPAs people have sent as extras. The box was also not sent the next day. I provided ultimatum on 4/23 indicating let's get the box out or move on and let the trade expire. No response for a week so I moved on (completed another trade with the beers and another guy in Ohio)... So this morning I get a response from the original trader saying he shipped today (it seems as if he didn't read my previous responses indicating I wanted to close the trade or move on). So now I'm at a loss in what to do and would appreciate help. Be honest....and thx in advance.

If it is as you say it is, you should tell him to contact whatever courier he used (FedEx, UPS, etc.) to send the box and have it returned to him because you were able to get the trade completed with someone else. Also, if I were you, I'd go ahead and leave neutral feedback saying something along the lines of "Agreed to trade but, due to poor communication, completed trade with someone else." Just another example of how key communication is when trading. It'll be a lesson to him in future trades and won't go against his feedback percentage. Additionally, if his trend of failing to check his inbox continues and his box arrives before he sees your message, tell him that you'll gladly send back the box if he sends you a shipping label. It's not your fault the guy is inattentive and can't read.

Yep, if what you said is accurate, as Immortale25 said, tell your trade partner to have shipping company route it back to him. Sounds like communication was really poor on his end.

To piggy-back on this post regarding bad communication:

I have a trade that was agreed to over a year ago, it was done entirely via DMs on this site. My trade partner and I started trading before the feedback system and had nothing but good trades leading up to this one. We went back and forth starting in February of last year until we locked down what we wanted. I shipped and sent tracking 05/11/15 after I had secured all bottles. I wasn't concerned with him shipping immediately after me since all previous trades had been great and he mentioned grabbing an extra bottle that wasn't available yet. I reached out on multiple occasions for updates on shipping and was provided various reasons as to why it hadn't shipped. Some reasons were more than valid, while most were along the lines of, "I was busy" or "I'll have tracking tomorrow/this weekend". I'm about to hit 1 year since I sent my box, and while I'm not upset about being out the beer (it was a locals for locals trade, so I didn't lose anything), I'd like to know the best course of action since a Bad Trader post isn't doable considering we didn't hit all the benchmarks.

I'll wait to hear from everyone before I out the trader, but this is the first time I've had anything but a perfect experience trading via BA.

    Thanks.

I thought I'd give an update to everyone as I posted the original question...I messaged the guy I agreed to a trade with and indicated I was moving on as I had indicated (and we agreed to) in an earlier exchange if he wasn't able to get the box sent out. If he is able to reroute the box (that he did eventually send subsequent to my note about moving on) back to his address, great...if not I'll ship it back as soon as I receive it. While there was certainly poor communication on his part coupled with agreeing to send and then not sending on several occasions spanning over three weeks, I did agree to a trade...so this path results in neither of us being out any beer and potentially both of us a little $ on shipping. Not the worst case scenario in my opinion and it didn't get ugly. I'll also mention, the mods on the site are here for a reason and I am thankful for them being available to provide an unbiased opinion. Thanks to everyone else for the input.
