Hello, everyone. I'm looking to get a compact refrigerator (strictly for beer ) and want to get some feedback and recommendations. Not really looking to spend over $100 but I'm open to suggestions higher than that range.

Energy consumption/efficiency are very important. On average how much do compact refrigerators usually add to one's monthly electric bill?

If a refrigerator is more expensive upfront but will cost me less in the long run I'm all for it.

    THANKS

I think the real question is: How much beer are you looking to store? I know from experience that a compact freezer is plain awful unless you just want to hold around a 12 pack and a bomber or two. Check craigslist for used refrigerators, you can typically find people who are looking to get rid of them for cheap, AND you can turn it into a kegerator if you wanted without killing a brand new fridge.

I have heard that the compact fridges can use almost as much energy as a full size. They are generally less insulated, less efficient etc.

Other than that. Check Craigslist. Usually a ton on ours (I live near Michigan state university) as well as a plethora of wine fridges.

Thanks guys. Checking craigslist is an excellent idea. Not looking to store too much beer. Perhaps between 12-24 at a time.

I normally say "less is more." But, when it comes to beer, I would rather have too much space than not enough. Plus, if I have people over and they bring bottles, we have plenty of room.

    Just my two cents.

Just looked on my CL. Nice selection of fridges for 50-75.

Good amount of selection for wine fridges too. Which since they omit the usual crappy freezer part and things like drawer or dividers you don't need, might work better, just most are setup with shelves to store sideways. Nothing a little DIY couldn't fix.

I think those wine fridges are a high buyers remorse item, and they end up on CL a lot.

    Semi tempted to grab one.

I may be wrong, but I think wine fridges aren't as cool as a normal fridge. Again, I may be, and probably am, wrong.

Yeah I have no clue if they are adjustable or anything. Never used one.
