Comparison Beer to Mornin Delight

    I am going to be a tasting for our beer group coming up soon. I usually like to do my tastings as a large tasting broken off into mini tastings with two beers of similar style that are on a comparable level (think for example peach sours fuzzy vs. fen tao or pappy 23 barrel aged beers rare vs. 2011 dark lord, etc.). One of the beers I will be including is TG Mornin Delight, which I absolutely love, but am struggling to come up with a beer that would be a good compliment to taste side by side. I understand part of the problem is that it is a beer of very high quality with unique characteristics, but can you recommend some beers that you would taste side by side with it, if there are any. I considered coffee hunter and vanilla hunter since they are non barrel aged, but they didn't present themselves in the same ballpark to me. I also considered BCBCS, but wasn't sure if the BA vs non-BA would create an unfair comparison? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

    I know. I racked my brain for some maple-containing BA coffee stouts and could only come up with some that were already mentioned. Maybe the maple beer from Lawson's would be a cool comparison. Not a stout and not barrel-aged, but tons of maple...

    The challenge is, even if you find one comaprable, that MD is just as good as the barrel aged version (KBBS). Not many other stouts have the level of viscocity and depth of flavor that MD have, BA or not. That said, your bottle's going to be pretty old. Clark shared one when I last went up to TG, and the coffee's hanging on, but it's been in the bottle since April 2013. I definitely had better experiences fresh, when the maple and coffee were better melded together and leapt from the bottle. CBS is probably the closest thing to do it, but I would just enjoy it for what it is and not sweat finding comparison beers.

    Treehouse Good Morning is an apt comparison, although finding a growler will be difficult until they re-release (which I would guess is probably not too far off).

    Hill Farmstead Beyond Good & Evil I'd say would be a perfect beer to compare with side by side. I've had both, and both are world class! I actually have 1 more bottle of BG&E, but wasn't planning on trading it... I might let it go for the right offer though...
