For those of you who didn't see this post today... <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=562534217137010" width="568" height="320" frameborder="0"></iframe> I can't wait till this comes out. Now if only they would bottle this thing!
Never going to bottle it, since he's never going to get enough pluots (from the source that he wants to continue getting them from). Just be sure to enjoy it extra hard whenever you see it on tap.
It's 500 lbs of fruit, assuming 50 lbs/barrel that's 10 barrels. A bottling is possible, maybe not likely, but possible. 500 lbs seems like alot for a draft only beer
I thought they won't bottle it because they are not sure that the pluots will hold up. I could be wrong but that's what I remember hearing.
You assume correct. I emailed RR about how much pluot they use in that beer because I was maiking a homebrew pluot beer and wanted some reference. Vinnie replied to my email himself and said they use 50lbs per barrel. That said I had Compuntion last summer during the T25 release and mother of God its one of the best beers I have ever had.
They've bottled it before: Regardless, I'm bummed by the timing here, it'll probably come out when I'm in Europe. I missed it last year because of laziness and looks like I'll miss it again this year. Bummer.
if they are using the ratio that typical homebrewers use it is 1-2lbs of fruit for 1gal of beer. So on the heavy fruited side it would be 250 gallons of beer, that is equivalent to ~2500 bottles, with no kegs and no loss during bottles.
They bottled b1 Compunction. Then the bottles never bottle-conditioned because the yeast never took. Then they dumped them all into a brite tank and force carbonated it and served it draft only. Had to open all of the corked and caged bottles and dump em into the brite. This is what I've heard from many people. Pretty sure it's a true story. There are still a few (probably 2 or 3) 3L bottles from that batch out there that were never scrapped - maybe because Vinnie adds yeast (and doesn't just assume the residual yeast from the wine barrel aging will carbonate them) to 3L bottles to ensure their carbonation. Also believe there are still some, but very few, genie bottles of Compunction out there that never got dumped into the brite tank. It's a definite top 5 beer for me. Can't wait.
