Concern over lack of tracking updates?

Where is the package headed? I usually ship to the East coast, which takes three to four days from California (typically). Often I will get the same tracking notifications (or lack there of) that you seem to be getting where it just says "Left Fedex Origin Facility" and then nothing for a few days until it gets to the facility that will sort and deliver the box to its final destination. I would say that this is definitely normal (depending on the destination) and wouldn't be too concerned just yet.

 

Sometimes they miss a scan on a box (so the bar code isn't scanned in at a sorting facility), so it doesn't post an update - it isn't a big issue. I wouldn't worry about it until it starts to give exception notices.

 

This is just anecdotal, but when I ship from Boise to ANYWHERE in the Northeast, my packages are scanned into the Salt Lake facility, but never show scanned out. There are no updates until the box hits the hub closest to the delivery target.

It still freaks me out a little every time... and I've shipped out more than 300 boxes over the years.

 

I wouldn't worry yet. Remember there is a big ass storm in the south east which may have an impact on air travel & deliveries. Here is an update from Fedex.

I have had a package be delivered to me cross country without one update from when it was picked up.

 

Yeah, I am the same way - it makes me nervous, but it isn't a sign that something is wrong. 99.9% of the time it is just they didn't scan the bar code on the box when it went through the sorting facility.

 

Ha! I can't tell you how many times we've gone on vacation, gotten two miles from home, & had to turn around because I couldn't remember if I locked the door. My wife has taken to double-checking for me now.

 

I shipped two boxes from Vegas this week. The first one only had one scan until it was out for delivery. The second just showed leaving Vegas. Both arrived safely (Minnesota and New Hampshire). Weird that both boxes really difficult for me to track.

 

I was on the receiving end of a box from Vegas a few weeks ago with the same issue (ups).
