I just clicked “Like” on a post because, well, I liked it, and I got a site response I’ve never seen before, here or anywhere else: a new screen opened up that said something to the effect of, “Are you sure you want to like this post?” I was then promoted to select yes/no—or something like that, I’ve tried to replicate it and could not get the site to do it again. Ultimately I was allowed to like the post. Is this a new thing or just a weird glitch I encountered? Granted, it was this post by @HouseofWortship and maybe not the absolutely most like-worthy post in the history of the universe—but I just found it a bit odd to have to confirm that I liked it. What’s next, will we have to identify all the images of fire hydrants before we can post what beer we are, in fact, drinking now? Cheers
Were you liking a bunch of posts in a row within a short period of time? Are you on a VPN? Otherwise this isn't a new feature or part of the normal flow of liking a post, so nothing to worry about, but it is a check that's been in place since we switched to this forum back in 2012.
I tried to get the error message to come up but to no avail. First I read all the posts in that thread then “liked” every single one of them as fast as possible. That’ll be the extant of my experimentation.
I was not liking a bunch of posts all at once, but I do have a VPN installed on my phone (a requirement of my employer so that I can use my personal phone to receive work emails and have various apps installed, which allow me to sit on my patio and drink beer while monitoring work communications). Also, because I’m out on the patio I’m testing the range of my WiFi, which can cause weird things to happen. I guess it was just a one-off thing.
