Just tried this beer the other day and it was super tasty, but it got me wondering:
Would it have been better if they had used Abyss and Mirror Mirror instead of Stoic and Dissident? Thoughts?

    Better? Who knows.....

Different? Yes....but only if they didn't use Abyss and Mirror Mirror 2009. Because then it would probably just taste exactly the same.

i feel like craft beer in general would be better without the stoic, so... yes.

Did anyone get strange plastic flavors in Collage? I definitely did, and it was pretty off-putting. The flavors dimished slightly as it warmed, but it was still less enjoyable than I had hoped.

That beer was wasted potential. Dissident never should have been included in the blend, and Stoic just sucks.

Isn't this the beer with the best after date of like April, 2013? I'd hold off on judging it too harshly yet. I have two and can't wait to see how this things are in a year or so!

Never had the base beers, but Collage was kinda tasty.

The idea of Abyss mixed with Mirror Mirror seems like it might be horrible, but as Knifestyles pointed out, if both were 2009 editions it might be a nice blend of inadvertent wild yeasts and bacteria.

I thought it was quite good. A stout probably wouldve altered it greatly. Maybe thats Conflux #3

    Cheers!

All I know is I'm so glad I got this super limited beer right after the release instead of 2 months after the release when it's still on the shelves.

A beer always tastes better if you've been personally aging it since day 1.

This beer is dissident and friends, so wishing dissident weren't in the mix is wishing it were a completely different beer.

It's like complaining that Supplication has wild yeast and bacteria. That's the point. Dissident gives it the sour/wild aspect they presumably were going for.

I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. I liked the tartness of it, but a blended and barrel-aged mix with Abyss and Mirror sounded good in my mine

non-infected mirror mirror yes, abyss no. i think a bit less sour would have been better in my opinion.

+1. Went in for 10. I hope no one else buys this beer so I can still get it at the bottle shop....if it's still there

Personally, I think it's one of the best mixes of beer I've ever had (besides Gueuze of course, which isn't exactly a fair comparison).

Some of the crazy blends that have been trotted out for beer fests have been pretty poor in my opinion (far to mixed up to have any discernible character), so I wasn't expecting this one to be very good either. But actually the flavors match together surprisingly well. I definitely squirreled away some for later.

Just because a beer tastes great on its own, doesn't mean it'll taste great blended with another.
