Anyone have any idea how Pretty Things' Confouded Mr. Sisyphus would have aged? My local distributor is selling a case at a significnatn discount since it has been sitting there since 2009 when it retired. I'm half tempted but scared it may not have aged 4 years well ...

In general, Belgians tend to age better than some other styles but it would really depend on the price for me...

I'd say go for it. To this day, my favorite Pretty Things beer I've had.

My guess would be it's a pass. I remember a Golden Ale that was mainly about cherries. That cherry flavor won't have aged well. The BA profile says it was brewed with "one bacteria," but still, I'm sure it's nothing like a Kriek and it would be a pass for me unless I could buy just one bottle to try and decide on the rest based on that.

I traded for this beer, it was a super want of mine. It was in the cellar for a special occasion. If I'm not mistaken though maybe a MA tasting group just did a PT lineup at a tasting earlier this month? I can drink it and tell you if you're willing to part with another bottle or two if its good!

If you buy the case, I'd be willing to send you some decent bottles of good stuff in trade for one or two. I live in MA and 'Confounded' is the ONE beer made by Pretty Things I've never had. I

Well, I decided to go for it ..... and man am I glad I did! I was afraid of a couple of things, and if nothing else that the cherries would have faded leaving this unremarkable.

Nope ... as soon I poured Sisyphus, I immediately smelled, and then tasted, what I am likening to a black cherry sweat tart. Yet it's light and refreshing. I'm not an expert on saisons, BPAs, or krieks (although I've had a few) but this appears to be a three way crossover and it's delightful. Not sure why they don't make this anymore???
