How sweet is it? I'll take a boozy sipper, but I'm less keen on really sweet ones.

I didnt think it was overly sweet at all, bourbon is the lead more than sweet

To everyone who's had Baby Maker - do you think it needs more time in the bottle or does it seem smooth/mellow enough as it is now?(relatively speaking for a 14% beer of course). It sounds like it's drinking plenty good enough now, but just curious...

How much per bottle?.. and I'm assuming they are in 500mL like everything else

$15 for a 500ml scared me away too initially. I guess that's why they did 2 for $25. The deal convinced me to do two. After having one and finding out its gonna be limited. I wish I bought 2 more. Hopefully its still there next week. JA is doing things right. Love how they handle special releases. No 6 months of hype, ticket sales, long lines or barrel society crap. Just make an awesome beer. Make a social media annoucment and put it in their in house coolers. Where you can grab a couple bottles and be on your way. Great job again JA!

$15 is rough when BA Saxonator was $16 for a 64oz growler fill and BA Framinghammer was $6 a bottle. Hopefully it's to cover some exorbitant cost of goods to produce this beer and not a sign of things to come.

Does anyone know if it made it through the weekend?

We have enough to last a while still. Also, now that everyone has had a chance to get it, we will be removing the bottle limits.

I'd say this is evidence that JA is no longer up and coming, they have arrived. I have protested this pricing by only buying four bottles instead of the limit of 6. I figure that ought to teach 'em to be so successful!

I figure it's because this was in the barrel for 9 months instead of about two. Had they put Saxonator/Framinghammer/etc in those barrels, they could have sold at least 3x more beer. $12.50/bottle seems about right for something aged 3-4x longer than a $6 bottle.

Why not just drink bourbon then?

You know, they said it was aged in Framinghammer barrels for nine months, but Framinghammer was bottled in March and this beer has come out seven months later, in October. Maybe they used the 2012 Framinghammer barrels that had presumably been sitting empty for ten months, could that be it?

I am sure it is more to it than just the extended aging with this one. To get to the higher abv, more ingredients were used, increasing costs, etc.

truly enjoyed the octoberfest (copper legend?) this past weekend. Going down to pick up more and now adding this to this coming weekend's Marzen face-off where it's going up against Paulaner, Ayinger, Weihenstephaner & Hacker-pschorr. Best of luck JA!
Spaten, harpoon, otter creek, sam adam's & beck's got cut in the prelim round...
