Really people.. I mean come on do your HOMEWORK for crying out loud !! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Breckenridg...651?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a74fd7c4b Or for the smarter folk..who would rather save some $$ for BEER http://www.breckbrew.com/store/tap-handles
Thi is funny. Can people really be that lazy that they just stick to a website they have heard of, instead of doing a little surfing to find it elsewhere...I mean a brewers website is a pretty obvious choice. As douchy as this is, props to this guy if he finds a sucker to pay this price
^ That was exactly what I was thinking ^ I always check the brewery website if I see something that looks cool on ebay just to be sure it isnt readily available AND at a lower cost too boot. Granted if its something long since gone or whatever then it is pay as you go...
That's been common on eBay for years. And it's not limited to beer. Buyers frequently pay far more than the item is being sold for elsewhere, sometimes from reputable dealers. It seems they get caught up in the thrill of 'winning' an auction. In one sense, they're paying for the experience as well as the product, so it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's not unlike paying $5+ for a cup of black coffee at a fancy coffee shop, simply because it's being served at a fancy coffee shop, or paying $5 for a Bud Light at Sam's Pub, when Joe's Bar right down the street is selling it for $2. There's nothing wrong with a seller taking advantage of this tendency, as long as they're not being dishonest about it, IMO.
It is the American way for sure and I do think it is about getting caught up in the thrill of the bid.. Kinda like beating out someone in the last 10 seconds of an auction by a penny. I know I have done it. I also try and watch for a good deal too.. That handle is sick looking to me, LOVE it but for 80 dollars HA no way !!
1000% right. I have bought and sold on eBay (calm down..never beer ) for years and it is mind-blowing how people will not do a simple Google search to check if an item is available for cheaper elsewhere just because they get caught up in trying to beat out the people they are bidding against. Also, in the specific auction posted in this thread, the seller started the bidding on that tap at .99... Bidders drove the price to what it is, not the seller. That seller did not do anything douchey at all .
