Contests from Breweries - ever enter?

    Sooo......I just found out I am one of 6 Grand Prize winners in the Great Lakes Great Summer photo contest (see http://www.friendsofglbc.com/), which ran from May 1-July 31

    I am excited, as I won a sweet kayak for taking some beer pics, totally worth the effort!

    Just wondering if you folks enter such contests very often like this? Some of the photos submitted were kind of lame.....it was supposed to be a photo with a GLBC beer doing some outdoor / summery things......

    Do BA'ers ever enter beer contests?

    Thanks!

    I took many photos of as many outdoor things as possible that I do....sailing / kayaking / disc golfing / biking / fishing / canoeing, etc.....with as many Great Lakes beers as possible......was hoping to score the stand up paddleboard, as I want to try that, but I am cool with the kayak!

    Ironically, I won with a canoeing photo of my least favorite GLBC beer, Eliot Ness......but its all good! I am grateful to win both a weekly prize (GLBC t-shirt, Frisbee, bottle coozie, sunglasses etc) and now the Emotion brand kayak, with GLBC logo!

    I entered - and won - the contest Ommegang did up to a couple years ago for their Snommegang Fest. Hang out for a weekend with brewery people, distributor and retail folks. Drinking, eating, skiing.... It was a blast.

    Same here - I won the Ommegang Snommegang tickets (1/10), and it was an epic weekend. I was sick as a dog for the first day and a half, and still had an awesome time. First class treatment through and through. Met another winner there from CT that I'm still friends with to this day.

    I won a Sierra Nevada contest in which they asked something to the effect of "If you were to join us at the Joshua Tree Music Festival, what special talent would you bring?" I said I'd freestyle rap beer reviews and now I've got an all-expenses trip with VIP access to the festival in October.

    I love Sierra Nevada.

    There's with glasses and without glasses. =) I love the photos. Did you read in the other thread how I am old. Take the glasses off to read the book, put the glasses on to see the road. . .

    I enter those types of contests all the time, but I've never seen one for a brewery... which, well actually, I sort of accidentally won some ski-slope lift tickets from Alaskan once, and I had to tell the brand district manager that I didn't think I was eligable because I work for a wholesaler that carries the brand. He said it's all good because the contest was put on by a third party (facebook I think). I actually got notified that I won BOTH sets of tickets that were up for grabs, but I think there was some mistake. I only got one set in the mail. Congrats!

    I think this one by Great Lakes is a really nice one......since I do so many outdoor activities, it was easy for me to get a lot of photos with their beers outside! It was weird to me that so many people sent in pics with no beer pictured or it was in a bar or something not "outdoors and summer oriented".....glad I won a kayak!
