True. It depends on your mood and/or the occasion.

Agree. The more hyped and bombastic beers I get to try, the more I enjoy and appreciate a well made pilsner or bitter. There's a time and place for everything.

I think most coffee imperial stouts age just fine and aren't best super fresh, in fact many are green pepper factories. People put way to much into "fresh" coffee. Coffee goes stale after like 15 minutes. Cold brew after about a week. Even shelf stable preserved doesn't last that long. You are better off throwing a shot of espresso or coffee directly into your beer if you want fresh coffee/espresso flavours.

I buy Sierra Nevada and everything else is mostly local or New England for the most part. Maybe some Rodenbach at times. I never buy founders, stone or lagunitas. I have better fresher and local. Even better, I have never been to Hose tree? What that called again? Only been to Trillium maybe 3 times? I work in Boston and drive by it 1-3 x a week.

    All this talk of tipping.

I’m surprised so many of you deign to handle your own money. I for one just let my valet deal with the mundane task of settling tabs. I’ve never bothered to ask how or if he tips.

Quite easy really, just hand the server a tip or partial tip simply saying that's how you like to get things started. Every server I've met appreciated the gesture. This for servers who will be headed back and forth to the kitchen to bring me stuff. Improves the bartender's pours as well.

Card transactions are no problem because I always carry cash as well.

Maybe this isn’t all that controversial, but I cannot stand that every brewery is now making old school video game glassware in minuscule numbers.

So true. My Jeeves seems to be giving bigger and bigger tips. In fact, I haven't seen him in a month. I'm thinking of calling Mum.

Agreed, but Kbs is a coffee stout and black note isn't. I don't know if it is fair to compare these 2 beers.

Black Note has espresso - essentially strong-ass coffee...

Still, I'd take KBS over Black Note any day.

Ok, I didn't remember black note having any coffee, I've only had it once though. I'm surprised you'd rather have Kbs, the last time I loved that beer was the 2016 release. I thought this years was good but nothing special.

Newcastle is like Yuengling to me. I used to drink them both all the time. I never buy either of them anymore, but I wouldn't turn either down.

Just not a fan of Black Note, don't get why many like it. I find it thin, which isn't what I look for in a BA stout. Also seems like it has less bourbon flavor than KBS.

So I am interested in all of your thoughts on this situation. My favorite brewery Kettlehead sells four packs and crowlers I rarely walk out with out 2 4 pack and often a Crowler. When I tip on the same bill, I will tip a $1 for the Crowler but nothing on the 4 packs. Also I am not tipping more than a $1 when I get a $12 BA Stout am I just being cheep?

I don't buy it all the time, but I still have mad love for the sculpins even after the buy out. And, THEY TASTE THE SAME (gasp!)

I never heard of tipping when buying pre-packaged beer.

I suppose a crowler or growler fill could be see as somewhere in between buying packaged beer and ordering a pint from a bartender.
