4 Pack cans in lieu of 6 packs.

    (4) x 16oz = 64 oz.
    (6) x 12oz = 72 oz.

The breweries know they can charge the same (or more) for (4) cans than for (6) bottles/cans and the 4 packs even have LESS beer.

It's stupid. Canning came out of nowhere and now it's costing the consumer more money for less beer.

Homebrewing most importantly, is a hobby and gives a person something to do with their spare time, that they may enjoy doing. That is primary reason for anyone to get into homebrewing. If you have very limited spare time, or don't like to tinker with things or solve puzzles etc, then homebrewing probably isn't for you.

It does though save money. I bought my water heaters (coppers) at a flea market for a couple of dollars each, my mash tun was made from a coolbox and domestic hot water copper tubing. I bought ingredients from the back doors of local breweries and was able to brew a gallon for the same cost as a pint in a pub. As good as anything for sale in a bottle but far short of good pub beer on cask After 30years I conceded defeat.

Here’s an apparently controversial opinion: these are public spaces and if you don’t like the people in them, that’s a you problem. Relax. Have a beer even, I hear it helps with that.

Excellent observation and suggestion, but my own controversial opinion is someone who thinks that spending time with 20 speeded out children and a pack of wild dogs could be better than, well, anything, likely won't be helped by a beer. I can think of some things might help, but most likely that's too controversial.

I tell this story quite often, but I think that it's worth repeating. Wifey and I were in NYC a few years back and decided to head over to The Blind Tiger for a couple pints. Get there and it's standing room only, which is just fine by me. Eventually get to the bar and get a couple beers. We're standing in the corner and just watching people and we couldn't find anyone who was sitting who didn't have their head buried in their phone. Sure, not all of them were rating beer, but you're in a world class beer bar, enjoy it. I often wonder if the people that do that even remember or recognize the places that they've been?

    Two things:

    1) Beer does not make assholes go away.

    2) Other people failing to recognize that they are not the only people on the planet is not "a you problem".

Compared to wine and spirits communities, craft beer seems to have a larger number of man children...

You misspelled that. It should read, "douchebags".

I don't understand your point. I do drink/enjoy other types of beer. IPAs are just extremely popular and I can't stomach them, which is my "controversial" opinion.

Also, agree with you 100% on cell phone usage.

Then you should have said, "IPAs fucking suck", because saying that you, personally, don't like them isn't terribly controversial.

"Controversial" means to give rise to public disagreement. If I don't like them, meaning I don't think they're very good when they are an extremely popular beer, then that is controversial. It's no different than another poster saying he likes pumpkin beer. It's controversial because it doesn't appear to be of the majority's accepted opinion.

Just trying to give you an idea of how the thread works, dude. If you're OK with saying, "I hate IPAs" and that's enough controversy for you, then I guess that'll have to do.

Not a problem. And yes, that's as controversial as I get with beer.
