    • Bourbon or whiskey barrels often ruin an otherwise solid base beer.
    • Stouts in the 7-10% ABV range are usually more enjoyable than massive high ABV stouts.
    • Zombie Dust is overrated.
    • Double Dry Hopped Fort Point is the best NE-style beer.
    • Cuvee Van De Keizer Blue is a cloying mess.
    • Unfiltered IPAs are almost always more flavorful than filtered ones.
    • Sometimes Untappd is more useful than BA for purchasing decisions because there are so many more ratings on Untappd.

Don't get me wrong here... I love a good IPA, but I think there are too many on the market. Hear me out, most restaurants and bars have about 3-5 IPAs on tap and maybe a few pale ales. I don't have any evidence to back this up, but it's something I've noticed. I'd like to see a greater variety.

    1. Not every beer put in a bourbon barrel is good.

    2. People that freak out when a beer is a month past its "drink by" date.

    3. When people say, "this beer has a leather taste to it." Who the hell wants to drink leather. Gross!

Preach. I agree on every single one

Gotta play to your audience, people love IPAs, now the reason why they love IPAs, that's where the potential controversy can lie.

    I have a bunch:

    • Four packs/16 oz. = A garbage packaging idea
    • If you only drink NEIPA and pastry/ba stouts, you don't really like beer.
    • Moreover, your fridge pics of latest hauls that include 96 different IPA doesn't impress me. Cool bro you like IPA.
    • Miller Lite is delicious ... actually so is Budweiser (and a lot of their acquired brands).
    • Yes, I get it. We like the flavor, but it's a little bit about getting drunk too. Admit it.
    • "Craft" has lost its definition. Let's just call it beer, huh?
    • Just because a place serves alcohol doesn't give you license to ignore social norms with topics of conversation, volume of conversation, or the amount of curse words you use. Be a grown up. Act appropriately in public, whether you're at a park, restaurant, or brewery. I'm sure most brewery owners would say the same thing.

I don't believe in beer "seasons", or that it isn't the appropriate time to drink a certain type of beer.

"It's winter, time for Stouts and Porters! IPA's? No way!!"

Cool - I'll be over here drinking Ninja Vs. Unicorn.

    Ok, I can do this.

    1) Nitro has no place in beer - it ruins the flavors.

    2) No beer should be more than 15% - it does nothing to improve flavor and usually detracts and is just a gimmick.

    3) Chicago is the best beer city in the country on breweries, style offerings, and distribution.

    4) putting a beer in a stout does not automatically make it a great beer. You can do a horrible job of barrel aging beer ...

So you're saying you can't read the first post of the thread and understand what's going on here? Does "FAIL" (in all caps) actually stand for, "...Far As I Listened..."?

You're also saying you can't read my post itself, as I never said one is better than the other, but rather how enjoyable one is over the other.

Allow a metaphor: you can listen to the best made country album of all time, or a solid (but not the best) rap album of all time. In this metaphor, you like rap, but hate country. (Feel free to substitute any two genres to fit your own particular tastes if this mental exercise is too much of a stretch; I have no idea if you like rap or country.)

Which are you going to listen to? (i.e. Which one will you enjoy more?) Note the question, in no way shape or form, appears as, "Which one is better?" But why read when one can troll instead?

I'm a millennial. I have reviewed 928 beers and given out 1 perfect score. It was a pilsner.

That add campaign is why I would pick some up ... and the fact that they gave it out free to Eagles fans ... Philly Philly!

I sincerely believe Treehouse is vastly overhyped. It's not even that good.

I hate fruited stouts. All of them.

    Better =/= more enjoyable?

I absolutely love Chicago, for a lot of reasons, but they definitely have some competition for that title, especially out on the West Coast.

    Yes and yes to both!

Enjoyable is, without debate or question, subjective. Objectively better may well be a fool's errand, but one can see parallels in virtually any field. Maybe you love circles so much that an imperfect circle, with ripples instead of smooth, clean arcs, is just aces for you. But squares? Man, screw squares - even perfect squares with perfect right angles and four equal sides.

One is objectively nearer to perfection (in the beer world, we call this "rating to style"), but that does not make it visually more appealing to the beholder. Truly, that concept cannot be so difficult to grasp, no?

Humans have long tried to define the perfect symmetry and proportions for an attractive person, and yet each individual human has traits that they individually find more appealing: blond, brunette, short, tall, etc. This is in spite of what research would suggest is universally more "perfect."

I think the "lipstick on a pig" analogy, in fact, sums it up well! You can dress up something unappealing, but it will still be unappealing. A Platonic, metaphysical ideal turd is still going to taste worse than a mediocre IPA - unless you enjoy eating turds.

You almost had a like outta me -- almost. Illinois distribution is awful, but maybe it's only in Lake County, I rarely shop in Cook County.

(Oh, and I had Founder's Breakfast Stout on Nitro draft last night, it was pretty tasty.)
