    - I can't stand Surly for various reasons
    - Barleywines suck massive penis
    - Barrel aged stuff annoys me. Bourbon in your beer?! OMG. If I want that, I'll just drink burbon thanks. I like beer that taste like beer.

I'm confused, do they have $5 pitchers of Fat Tire and .25 Buffalo wing nights? Or are kids just rich now a days and go to places serving beers at $5 per pint?

When people talk about tap options being more limited compared to 15 years ago the only thing that comes to mind for me is the elimination of the obligatory "amber ale" from the generic brewpub taplist.

It would seem we're on the same page in considering this a feature and not a bug

    I think Saisons are overrated.

Good ones are great, average ones are drain pours. They go great with salads and light lunches, I'll give them that.

More of my controversial opinions :

I agree on Surly. Most Surly beers are overhopped messes. Except for Todd The Axeman, I like that one quite a bit.

And while we are on this topic...

Lagunitas beers taste exactly the same whether it's a copper ale, a witbier, or a double dry hopped IPA. Versatility is not their strong suit. "Let's brew an IPA and call it a Rauchbier"

Stone by and large produces shit beers. Xocoveza is a roll of the dice each year, and it's the only Stone beer I honestly come back to often. Their Milk Stout ain't bad. Everything else (and I've had dozens, both reviewed and not) I could easily do without. I've drain poured more Stone beers than any other brewery (including Rhinelander)

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is the worst Barleywine on earth

Tree House ain't as good as Trillium or Vanished Valley

Miller Lite is the perfect bowling alley beer

There's only 4 breweries that make a brown ale worth drinking

    I fuckin hate Chicago
And yes M-43 does pale in comparison to true New England beers. It's not terrible though.

That’s your 10 tap brewpub from 10 years ago. Kids these days complaining about variety...

Why is it that just about every high dollar ale, quads, trippels, barrell aged, etc., that I try are just way overrated, imho. I don't enjoy them much, maybe a sip or two, then they just turn on me. I fell like sucker for buying into the hype.

Oh and PBR is the perfect bowling alley beer.

I had a Loral recently and didn't find it as similar this time.
Pliny and Hop Bullet are pretty similar IMO

Then why is Pliney considered to be such a highly considered beer? Maybe because they were the first to brew what they brew? I really didn't care for Hop Bullet so much that the last 3 bottles I ended up using them in boilermakers. Hop Bullet helped to make a delicious boilermaker but as a stand alone beer I just didn't care for it. But if that's all I'm missing in a Pliney then I guess I'm not at all missing out on Pliney. Has to be better than Hop Bullet, no?

I think Sam Adams Boston Lager is the best lager out there on the market. Dependable, cheap, and a great example of the style. (2 dollar draft night at the local tavern might influence that, but still)

Because tastes change. Pliny was the “it” DIPA when I joined. Then it was Heady. Now it’s - I don’t know - probably something from Treehouse.

People would kill for Pliny when I joined. Then when Heady rose to the top people started saying Pliny was overrated. Now the same thing is happening with Heady. And the same thing will happen with King Julius or whatever the “best” DIPA now is. The only things guaranteed in life are death, taxes and a constantly changing definition of what the “best” DIPA is on BA.

These "hot takes" are more related to BA than just beer, but here goes...

I hate when people refer to a post/thread/article as cancer. I'm sorry you don't agree with someone's opinion, but I'm pretty sure you would rather be forced to read it another 10,000 times than to actually get cancer.

The once a week posts asking what beer you should drink for your 1000th/2000th review. I don't really give a shit, just use the same decision making process you have for the first (1,)999.

One time I sent a trader a stout that he didn't have access to, but I could easily buy off the shelf. I had no previous trade experience with him and was not interested in any of the beers he was trying to trade for it. I just sent it to him bc trying to be generous. A week later I saw him posting it FT. Fuck that guy.

Also German Pilsners are the best style of beer.
