When I go to a restaurant, bar, brewery I don’t want to talk about beer. In fact I want to talk about anything other than beer. Beer just happens to be want I’m drinking. If I want to discuss, dissect, or rate beer I will stay at home, pour a glass, and read through beeradvocate.com.

Preach it. Whenever you read here about something from 3 or 4 years ago "drinking well" you can bet it would have "drank" better 3 or 4 years ago.

No complaints here. I think it's well balanced. It is an Imperial Amber Ale with high IBUs = should be well balanced.

Never understood trading for a beer I couldn't get locally.

BCBS is best served over vanilla ice cream.

Start hopping other styles and then people start complaining that an American Barleywine is really more of a heavy IPA, or that a pale ale by ____ should now be considered an IPA.

I will say, that I tend to avoid buying IPAs when I'm traveling. I'm sure I've set back some great beers at the store, but IPA is such a broad term that there is no way I'm buying an unknown beer labeled an "IPA" to bring back home. Too much utter crap under that title (with some damn good ones in the mix) to justify setting aside space in the car/luggage for an unknown "IPA".

Good thing you didn’t put barrel aged or you wouldn’t have had a new beer in the last 5 years

People work long and hard for that title. Maybe you should look into what it takes to be called that.

I was going to come to say this, but this guy beat me to it. I wanted to read this entire thread before I commented.

    It's "mead." Not meed.

But +1 to Ninjakillzu's entire comment.

I’ll echo the arguments I hate:

    Don’t like cans
    Which packaging is best
    Breweries that sellout
    Local is best
    Won’t stand in line...ever

    I’ll think of more

Call me an old fart, but younger beer reviewers don't know how to rate to style.

I plead for the day when a millennial rates a Pilsener above a 4 on BA or Untappd.

Sorry, but this is a really ignorant statement. (And I'm not a cicerone.)

The NEIPA craze is driven by the FOMO disease (fear of missing out) that is widespread in the craft community. When in reality finding a core group of beers you enjoy while occasionally experimenting with new offerings offers a much higher long term value and enjoyment proposition. For the record - I suffer from chronic FOMO.
