I'm thinking converting our chest freezer to a kegerator and I'm curious to how much money I will be looking at spending?

    Cheers

Oh, and a list of stuff ill need with prices would be awesome, if possible

If you're talking about faucets coming out of a collar on the front and not a tower then rough estimate: temp controller (~$50), faucets (cheap as low ~$15 each up to $30, maybe more if you look at perlick etc. faucets), + miscellaneous materials like the wood to build a collar around the chest freezer, hoses, manifold etc. This of course doesn't include kegging equipment. If a tower is involved, then your probably adding $100. Again just rough estimates.

You're looking at about 300 without the freezer including the CO2 tank, regulator, two faucets, temp controller, and lines. I know it seems like it's a bit of work, but it's actually really easy. I've helped out with 3-4 of these now, and once your order the stuff from beveragefactory or kegworks, it's just taking a bit of time to set it up. Really very easy. Go for it, and feel free to BM with any questions.

Recently did a conversion, spent about $500 grand total including everything. There Can be quite a price range depending if you get a new freezer, what kind of wood you use for the collar etc. I spent $75 on a freezer, about 300 for faucets/shanks/co2 tank and lines, 35 per keg, about 75 in materials at the hardware store. It was a lot of fun to build.

I bought the chest freezer off of craigslist for 40 bucks. The temp controller was 70! that said, mine is just lagering/carb/condition fridge. Keep the Kegerator in the house.

Thanks for everyones help. Looks like I'll either convert it or buy a used kegerator, whichever is cheaper.

Check keg connection for parts or look for group buys in homebrewtalk. I got 3 perlicks for around 50 bucks.

I 'fixed' my freezer's thermostat, which saved $50-$60 for a temp controller. You've already got a freezer. I've seen various sizes of CO2 tanks on CraigsList for $20, some with CO2. 50' of 5/16" air hose on eBay was $20. I built a 4 faucet oak tower for, maybe $20 worth of scrap materials (left over from my bar, so it was zero marginal cost). I'm not saying these prices are typical, only that if you're not in a hurry, it doesn't have to be a budget buster.
