i found a recipe on the AHA website for a "No Quarter Smoked Porter" the recipe calls for whole hops..I'm going to try and locate some from my LHBS but I don't think I will have much luck. Can someone send me a link to a site that tell me how to convert whole hop amounts pellet amounts?

Pellet hops get slightly better utilization than leaf hops. One common estimate is that pellets add about a 10% bonus (so you'd use roughly 10% less) compared to leaf hops of the same Alpha Acid % rating.

I would just assume 1 for 1... if you bag your pellets...whole cones have more testosterone so they get the nod when rounding up : )

Tasting it both ways is the only real test.

I would just follow the recipe and ignore the difference between cones and pellets. You would probably not notice if you brewed the same recipe twice but with cones or pellets.

Pellet hops store a little better, but if both are fresh, it's hard to not like whole cones...they're not as processed as pellets.
